Posted: 23 Mar 2021 12:02 PM PDT I just got back from my first yoga class since the studio closed down. My pandemic weight gain made getting into my yoga clothes hard. I made it half way through the class before I got on my knees and fell into child's pose and began to weep tears of joy and gratitude to be back to the only place that has never made me feel any thing but plugged in loved and appreciated. One owner is gone and out of state. I cant believe she's gone. I know it wasn't easy and I hate that I cant hug her. I keep crying because she is gone. I cried because Robert died and I'll never see him waving and smiling at me as I put my things away in my cubby to come join him. He was someone who overcame so many health problems the doctors told him to wrap up his loose ends because he would be gone in weeks. Robert said fudge to that and joined a yoga studio and you could see it in his body's twisted limbs and the help he required to do simple tasks but never in his spirit. I defy anyone to find a happier person than Robert. I can feel my friends in our special place. When we sealed our practice with our Ohm my heart almost exploded into ecstatic ribbons of burning green confetti. [link] [comments] |

Focusing on the breath during my vax appt Posted: 23 Mar 2021 11:57 AM PDT I had my first vax appointment today. Im scared of needles and was very anxious-- sweaty, churning stomach, etc. But I made chit chat while in line to distract mysekd, and when it was my turn, I looked away and focused on my breath very intentionally. It didn't hurt and it was over quick, but I was a little light headed after and I just closed my eyes and breathed in my nose, out my mouth, felt my chest and belly expand and contract.... Before I knew it, it was time to get myself a donut as a reward for my bravery :) [link] [comments] |
What Are Chakras? An Introduction To The Subtle Body And Its History Posted: 23 Mar 2021 08:49 PM PDT Chakras. It's a word familiar to most yoga-lovers and those with an interest in religions and traditions of Indian origin. Yet, for many of us, the chakras are still an unfamiliar concept. But worry not! Whether you're well-versed in all things spiritual or just dipping a toe in the world of interwoven energies, this blog is here to provide you with the context and information you need to understand what chakras are, where they're located around your body, and how advocates suggest you use them to find inner peace and balance. If you have started like me and eventually got to the other picture. Did you stretch other area? Did you stay in your squat or maybe held on to something and eventually was able to [link] [comments] |
what is the best yoga online to start for an obese individual? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 01:03 PM PDT I practice yoga for a year when i was like 100 pounds lighter (wont get into result of medication) I was very fit calm and could breath much clearer and i want to get back into it but the only issue is now I am a little over weight. I m a 6'4 male and i weigh around 290 pounds. I have enough muscle to be able to do 140 pushups in a day but my flexibility is most likly gone. (not including push up recovery days.) I dont want to do chair stuff like an old crippled person cause i am only 29 years old but i want to do something. Its just that all the yoga videos i come across are mostly skinny mini women who look like they weigh 100 pounds soaking wet and some of the stuff they do is incredible, dont get me wrong, but completly out of the question for me as ive gained 100 pounds and i havnt even done any flexibility training for over 5 years. There must be a beggners guide to yoga online somewhere for big people. I just dont know how strong and/or flexable i am anymore and really really got discouraged to start when i saw how fit, muscular and skinny all the people are online that lead yoga classes. Also depending on ow difficult i find it i dont know how many times a week i should or could do it. Thanks for reading my post. Hope your all having a great day! [link] [comments] |
Anyone else (F) get air “down there” trapped during bending over in yoga? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 02:36 PM PDT It happens to me a lot, and it's so embarrassing! A lot of the time it doesn't come back out I don't think so it makes me super uncomfortable. I feel a little guilty for having sex because I feel like if I were a virgin it wouldn't happen. Can anyone relate to this ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 06:16 PM PDT Hi everyone, I'm looking to do my teacher training and wanted to go to India to do it. Problem is everyone is against this idea because they think it's dangerous or something bad will happen in a place so unfamiliar. I don't feel this way, in fact I feel it would be an amazing experience. What I was wanting to ask is if anyone can give me any advice on where would be best to go, if anyone has done the same thing and how did it go etc. Your help and guidance would be ever so much appreciated. Many thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 09:25 AM PDT Hello ohmies! I have a question regarding where to begin my career in yoga. I am currently in 200-hr YTT and graduate in June. I have looked into working front desk at a local studio for some experience, but what else can I do? I was thinking of doing donation-based or free classes to the public at local parks, offering personal one-on-one sessions (after I get my certification of course), things like that. Since most studios require two years of teaching experience, those have been my only ideas for teaching so far. Also I plan to take loads of different classes so I can have well-rounded experience, and I'm looking into other yoga-related classes and certificates (like yoga and neuroscience, anatomy workshops, etc). Maybe even find mentors in the area and do some sort of apprenticeship? If you have any tips or advice on how to get the best experience possible to set myself up for my new career path, please let me know ❣️ thank you so much. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 09:49 AM PDT Hey everyone, I wanted to start yoga after dealing with back pain for years from a slight case of scoliosis. I did one session yesterday, and today my back feels like its been burning all day. I tried researching this but haven't found much. Does anyone know anything about that or have recommendations on if I should continue practicing or not? Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Mar 2021 06:51 AM PDT Hello, I'm 64, and was just diagnosed with "multi- level lumbar facet arthrosis" ...Arthritis. Mainly due to too much activity...Weightlifting, karate, bowling, etc. Is there a certain form of yoga, that would help treat or alleviate symptoms? I discovered I had this due to a severe nerve pinch last week that nearly debilitated me. I've always had sciatica issues, but this sent firey pains down the front of my quad. Bad. Emotional release during yin yoga Posted: 22 Mar 2021 08:49 PM PDT I had a powerful release during my at home yin yoga flow today. Softening and surrendering to each pose, crying, feeling the flow of my energy circulating my body, connection between my mind and body. I've had a handful of powerful emotional releases during the past few months of yin yoga. I don't always feel light after. In fact, I feel rather heavy. Coming to the mat is a safe place for me to process what I have going on in my life, in my mind, in my body. If I'm attuned to what I've been carrying, what I am feeling, it flows and flows. It's beautiful. Yin yoga has been such a resource while going through a death in my family, grief, and trauma. Has anyone else had a powerful emotional release during yin? [link] [comments] |

Any suggestions on what brand yoga swing to buy? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 06:01 AM PDT I have been wanting a yoga trapeze for a couple years now and I've decided to finally make the plunge but I see now they have several different varieties. Anyone have one they can recommend? I weigh 125, but I have old injuries, and I feel like I could use the swing support. Pretty sure I'm also looking at a fibromyalgia diagnosis like my mom. 😑 [link] [comments] |
