My favorite part about doing yoga so far

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 11:04 AM PST

Being able to put on socks while balancing on one foot. It seems like such a silly thing but every morning I look forward to balancing on my right foot while putting on my left sock, and then doing the opposite. I've even started to do this when taking off my pants before bed. It seems like such a silly minor thing but I honestly love it!

Yoga with Adrienne Breath 30 Days of Yoga & My Experience

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 08:27 AM PST

So I keep seeing a lot of posts asking about getting into yoga or the 30 days of Yoga with Adrienne Breath series and last night I finished! Pre-Covid I would go to yoga classes 1-2 times per week and I really enjoyed them. Gyms are open again in my area. I still don't feel comfortable going back, so I have tried to create ways to keep me motivated and active from home. I started practicing yoga a few years ago to stay centered during some turbulent times and to be able to sleep at night. The series was really great because I had stopped practicing for a few months and needed something to get me going again. Adrienne is a bit chatty and there were a few days where the talking was a bit excessive, although I didn't necessarily mind. Her humor and laid back spirit are something I admire, just a note for some if they want a more serious practice this may not be for them. Generally there weren't any days that I found to be too challenging and I felt more toned and stronger by the end. For those of you asking about weight loss, I lost one pound but I don't consider yoga to aid too much in that department. The biggest achievement I reached within the 30 days was being able to hold a crow pose for the first time which was very exciting for me. Overall I would definitely recommend this series to anyone. It is lighthearted, relaxing and a great way to get back in touch with yourself!

    Am I doing this right?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 06:48 PM PST

Beginner here. I have bad posture so not sure if that could be a factor. I can't seem to relax and sit up straight at the same time. Trying to lengthen my spine and stretch while sitting is not relaxing for me and leads to back pain. Is this just something I'll get used to, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!

    Frustration with fast paced yoga

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 04:09 PM PST

I understand that yoga is taught differently by different teachers. I have found some good ones on YouTube, but my problem is the good sequences that open my joints are done too fast by almost every teacher on YouTube. As soon as I enjoy getting into a pose, they are moving onto another and then I have to break focus to rewind in order to get a 5 second stretch because each pose is barely held but for a second. I understand this is not traditional yoga and is more of an "exercise". Yin yoga is an alternative, but many of these sessions make me fall asleep. Perhaps it's time for me to make my own videos because I can't find a teacher who utilizes both the slow breathing focused yin postures with the limb lengthening poses that Hatha provides.

Why do I find breathing challenging during plow pose?? Or when I’m really trying to lengthen my shoulder stand?

I’m a yoga newb with right hamstrings. I have a hard time with vinyasa flow. It is too fast for me with my tight hamstrings and locked up shoulders. I practice Yin every other day, hoping I can gain some flexibility. Any other recommendations on types of yoga that might help tight ppl like me?

    Full body flow

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 07:08 AM PST

Hello fellow yoga loving people! Happy Tuesday 😄

I recently have gotten back into yoga after taking some time off. I practiced for about a month before ultimately falling off. I started practicing from YouTube videos and found Yoga with Adriene. She's great! I love her full body flows and I was wondering if any of you had other recommendations for full body flows? Doesn't matter the length of practice or the person teaching, I'm more than willing to try it!

Thank you for the help! Have a good week!

Pain all up and down my back. Are there any videos, poses, or routines you can recommend?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:46 AM PST

I haven't don't yoga in a few years but I would like to get back into it. I know there are certain poses that can help relieve pain in some parts of the body and I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with a daily routine to help my back.

I work a very labor intensive job and I'm experience pain all up and down my back and I find myself laying in child's pose a lot of help relieve the pain. So I wonder, what else can I do?

I have to say I'm very out of shape compare to what I used to be and I was hoping for some modified poses as well, but I've been having trouble finding a good video on YouTube.

Thanks you for any help you can offer!

Any advice for chronic muscular tension?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 06:44 AM PST

Hi all, I've been dealing with chronic pain problems and structural issues for nearly 10 years now. Seems to be flaring a lot lately so I thought some people might have some advice. I have played saxophone a long time and it was my college major. When I was 19 playing long hours the intense neck pain began and I'm now 27. I also used to jog and this caused a series of issues too including sciatica. The lower body seems to be healing and after this I got in shape a few years back, but I felt I did a lot of weights and not enough stretching and it led to anothwr issue - costochondritis. Since then I moved to Korea for work and let a lot of my workout havita slide. I'm getting back into the groove and I started manual therapy weekly again. The clinic does chiro-like adjustments, trigger point, and fascia release, but it's really left me so so aware of how bad it all is all over again. Before, I wanted to strengthen the core and upper back. I did. But it took so much time out of the day (FYI I'm F27, 120lbs) and with stretching etc I spent over an hour sometimes 2 each day stretching and I just felt so-so. Now too I spend a lot of time stretching and less with the weights but I'm in a lot of pain. I have been trying some yin yoga and restorative yoga lately as my flexibility is decent and I know my limits. I used to do a lot of vinyasa. I have a basic regimen I like but it is so time consuming. I guess I just wonder if anyone else has experienced something like this. I try to be upbeat but I've spent so many hours everyday for the last 10 years trying to find the right fix and I just don't know anymore. I'm so young and it's so so debilitating. With work + stretching I have no time for music or even other hobbies anymore I just want to lay down in bed and let my muscles stop hurting. I don't know what is wrong with me and I don't know how people who don't even spend 10 min a day stretching feel fresh and fine. I know it's been a long time since I fell off the horse and I suppose it's going to get worse before it gets better but I would hope by this point I could have a better understanding of how to manage this. Also note I have sacrilization of L5 and sacrum. Minor scoliosis and a pretty deep backwards neck curvature (I tend to tip my head back on my neck subconsciously). I also tried Alexander Technique in college, many physio, PT, chiro. I know the issues, I just can't find a reasonable workout! Recently loving foam rolls, massage balls, those prickly mats, and I am even quitting alcohol as it's too much and I figure hydration to the max in case anyone also suggests these things.

Is it possible to train your body to do a split?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:09 PM PST

26 male here. I'm really far from my goal of being able to do a split (one leg forward one leg back) as far as I understand it, the only way to be able to do this is if you start from an early age. Would it be worth my time to try a routine that will specifically make me more flexible In that area? If so any routines you can recommend?

    Yoga and hip injury

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:35 PM PST

So I'm 25 years old and my body was feeling beat up and super tight from years of soccer and mixed martial arts. I just got into yoga 2 months ago and I love it. I'm working on my body and mind right now and it feels amazing doing something I'm passionate about finally ( yoga ) , but I only have one issue.

I recently got hip impingement also called dancers hip in my left hip. I went to many doctors, who just said I'm very tight and I'll be fine and the they would just show me some strengthen and stretches to do. Now, this hip impingement can flare up on me from time to time and cause me very bad pain in my groin. There is so much clicking and popping going on , only when I internally rotate my hip . I'm currently seeing a chiropractor who's helping me through this.

Now I know you guys aren't doctors, but I'm just curious has anyone had anything like this before ? And if so how'd you overcome it ?

Thank you, and much love 🙏🏻
