Thought these might belong here too ☺️

Is this a mudra? does it hold any meaning? My friend got me a sticker pack and I don’t want to use anything without understanding it — Google is fruitless, thought I’d ask the community (:

    Need advice!

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:39 PM PST

I started doing yoga a few months ago and loved it but it has been exacerbating my acid reflux. I can't do anything that requires bending over or being inverted. This means no forward folds, no downward dogs, no dolphin etc. I still want to do yoga and wondering if there are other poses that I can substitute when the ones I can't do are in a flow? I know there are no-inversion type yoga videos on YouTube but there isn't much variety and I haven't been happy with them. I'd much rather do a regular vinyasa flow and replace the ones I can't do with something else. Hope this makes sense and someone can offer me some insight! Thanks in advance!

    Lower back

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:15 PM PST

I recently began yoga and my lower back is hurting. Is there something that I can be directed to do differently? There are no problems or pain as I am doing it so I can't attribute it to any one pose. Thank you

Harder to pull in abs during workout

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:10 PM PST

Hello, first time poster here. I am in the middle of doing the yoga with Adrienne 30 day challenge. When I first started the challenge I wasn't using my core so I really messed up my lower back, I got back into it by flexing my abs (engaging core) during the entirety of the following sessions which protected my back a lot and I didn't have lower back pains after. During this time though I remember my abs were always sore. I had to take a break Bc I had my period and when I came back to it I found it was really hard to pull in my abs during practice, sort of like my core just doesn't want to engage almost, and since this is happening I'm getting more lower back pain since they are no longer engaging properly. Has this happened to anyone else, did I overwork my abs and have them shrink?(that has happened to me before on different parts of my body). How do I get them back so I no longer mess up my lower back? Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hand grip strain? (Help?)

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 05:21 AM PST

Silly me. Yesterday I was following along a video, and the instruction was to "really push away from the floor." For some dumb reason, I really gripped the mat with hasta bandha.

This morning I notice some slight pain when I close my left hand or grip something. The pain can be felt all the way down to my wrist sometimes. It isn't all the time or horrible, but I've obviously done something wrong. I have full range of motion still.

Has anyone done this? Should I be worried I tore something? I'm hoping this will go away in a day or two, and will just do "wrist free" yoga until then.

Want to try yoga for anxiety but I can’t relax enough

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 08:22 PM PST

Hi all! Hope you're all doing well. I enjoy working out because it helps with my anxiety. I am trying my best not to have to take medication and people swear by yoga.

I have tried yoga a few times but I just can't seem to really relax enough to truly get the benefits. Does anyone have any tips for me? I am going to go through your list of favorites to try those videos but before I do I want some tips from experts to truly engage in it.

    Thanks in advance yogis!

    Improving wide forward fold

I find when I do wide forward fold I feel pinching/tightness on the outside of my lower legs. Does that ease off in time?

    Yoga PE assignment

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:05 AM PST

Hi, I got an assignment to teach yoga. I'm supposed to prepare some warm-up activities, core activities and of course, cool down. The lesson should take around an hour (maybe a bit less) and I don't really know what to do. I'm doing yoga about 2-3 times a week and I'm nowhere near a pro, so I really need help with how to teach this to my class. I'm also doing this with a classmate who's barely done any yoga and is pretty inexperienced. Does anyone have any tips?

Quick question from a french noob male :)

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 02:44 AM PST

    Hey guys !

I won't bother too long. I'm a 28Yo French Male with a good experience in weight lifting and, as gyms are closed due to covid, I wanted to practice my flexibility.

I wish I started last year when we were confined for the first time but eh... It's never too late and we are still under curfew in France and I guess it's going to stay like this for a while.

Anyway, I wanted to have some opinions about this book I downloaded :

    https://www.amazon.fr/Yoga-Fitness-Men-Performance-Flexibility/dp/1465473483/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

It's really well made, with programs etc. I just wanted to ask you guys if this is a good reference to start Yoga ? :)

    Thank you very much
