2 months of daily yoga practice Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:29 AM PDT And I feel amazing. My pesky neck stiffness is decreasing, posture has improved, I am getting abs (whoa) and arm muscle which I've never had before, I am more patient with others, and find myself with positive, mindful thoughts more than the negative ones. I have been in a post-university, unemployed depressive slump since December, but my outlook on life and confidence has significantly improved the past month thanks to yoga. I am trusting the universe and it's unfolding. I am obsessed and cannot wait to keep learning and explore all 8 limbs of yoga. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:32 PM PDT So I did Yoga with Kassandra's day 3 night time yoga sequence last night and when it came to the IT stretch, I didn't feel anything at all and I tried it a few different times after the practice and still didn't feel the stretch. I know I've gotten a lot more flexible and mobile since really focusing on my yoga, but I was wondering if I did something wrong? I did other stretches and still nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 11:25 AM PDT I got off Facebook last year, and the only thing I miss is Erin Motz's Bad Yogi community. I like the people here too :) It's nice lurking around the edges of a supportive, kind group! [link] [comments] |
Getting the most out of short sessions Posted: 04 Apr 2021 05:17 AM PDT I enjoy doing yoga and I benefit from it greatly. However, for a variety of neurological and psychological reasons, I can't handle more than 15 minutes a time. (I become very anxious and twitching if I'm not constantly stimulated. Regular meditation feels like I'm holding my breath.) However, I'm keen to get the most out of the short sessions that I can do. I'd appreciate any tips you might have. [link] [comments] |
Does the lotus pose after a meal stagnate the stomach meridian? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 03:45 PM PDT I tend to sit in the lotus position a lot, and I was curious if maybe this is causing energy to become pent up instead of flow down the stomach meridian. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 10:25 AM PDT Stretching make you lose muscle or strenght? Or you dont lose anything? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:09 AM PDT Anyone ever dealt with this? I'm not sure if it's from yoga or not but I've noticed my mid back will feel either numb or tight feeling like it's stretching randomly throughout the day when doing dishes or sitting at the computer, etc. Was hoping I could fix with yoga but not sure if yoga is what caused it. Posted: 04 Apr 2021 12:44 PM PDT I'm wondering if anyone has used this brand of mats before and what their thoughts on them? I have two rubber lulu mats and thinking of replacing the one that's wearing down with a cork one. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:57 AM PDT I have tight hips and I wanted to do baddha konasana for longer periords. However I have difficulty to keep the feets together and it is giving pain in the ankles 😑 Any suggestions? Or maybe someone else also has this experience? [link] [comments] |
Online classes - legal rights question Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:24 AM PDT I'm really curious about this since so many studios have created online offerings in the last year. Do instructors sign something that gives the studio ownership of the video? And how far does that go? To give you a better idea of what I mean, there is this article: https://www.vulture.com/2016/12/rogue-one-peter-cushing-digital-likeness.html The movie "The Congress" with Robin Wright explores this too. I'm pretty sure my old studio lost many instructors who would not agree to do recorded online classes. [link] [comments] |

What poses should I learn so I can build strength for anahatasana (puppy pose)? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 06:46 AM PDT Hi all. I'm a beginner and I decide on what to learn next intuitively, based of my limitations/strenghts (I have atm SI joint problem (= need more stability in pelvis area) so I dodge everything assymetrical, rotations, twisting etc.) The ones I do regularly right now are,
I'm kinda stuck and not sure in what direction to go next. My goal was to prioritize poses that help with thoracic spine mobility + hip mobility as I have typical PC posture and I'm naturally hypermobile in my joints (affects my lower back too), which is why I wanted to take on Anahatasana next - apparently too soon. I get a pretty bad discomfort in my shoulder area even with props and can barely hold the pose, which I'm addressing to lacking strength in the upper back and arms. I'm quite a weakling overall tbh. What poses can I take up next so I can progress? I'm a little bit lost, esp. since I have to for now omit everything that would bring instability to my SI joint = if the pose is symmetrical, it's likely ok. It just seems everything I could learn next appears a bit too hard for me. [link] [comments] |
