I'm not convinced I'm Planking correctly

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 03:01 PM PDT

I don't feel I have a particularly strong core. Therefore, my understanding is that, I should struggle to hold the plank for any length of time correctly. However, it's my arms and shoulders that give way before my abs. In fact, I can't say that I've had any abs burn doing the plank. I wouldn't say my lower back gets sore/tired either though. My teacher says I have good form when I'm doing the plank but I feel I'm cheating in some way.

I'm not convinced I'm engaging my core - is there any way to ascertain if I am or not? I am overweight, so my tummy isn't taught enough to visibly see what is going on.

    Crying during yoga

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 01:39 PM PDT

Had a particularly traumatic experience yesterday, thought I was over it until it all released the next morning during practice. Breathing was all messed up, cradled myself in child's pose. Was feeling cathartic until...nosebleed.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? What are your go-to comfort poses?

[COMP] I'm proud of myself for getting this far with my forward fold so far (although there's a long way to go!) I've been trying to learn how to bend more from my hips and loose the invisible beach ball between my stomach and legs. Is it bad for me to be bending my back this much though?

    Yoga Bolsters, do they help?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 03:12 PM PDT

Hi, trying to get deeper into poses especially with hips and hip flexors on the mat... would a bolster be a good support until I can get my hips to be all the way down on the mat?

    Thanks!

    Yoga class advice!!

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 08:05 PM PDT

Hey, everyone!! I'll be going to my second class this week( woo!) and I noticed my studio has a class called Journey Through The Chakras. I'm a tad too scared to ask the instructor what entails in a class like that. Has anyone ever taken a class by that name? Was it more meditation based rather than Yoga based? I do go to a very spiritual studio if that influences anything!

Bought my first Manduka ProLite from Anthropologie and it came with these streaks on the mat. Tried scrubbing with dish soap and it's not budging at all. Any tips to get rid of these stains or am I just out of luck?

I recently discovered yin yoga and haven’t stopped talking about it to my friends and family.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 11:22 PM PDT

I'm a massage therapist and at the end of a long day the last thing I want to do is stand. But I love yoga and all it's benefits. So, I looked into restorative yoga and yin has not disappointed me. I'm enjoying Yoga with Kassandra for all my Yin needs, but if anyone has other yogis they'd suggest I'd love to try them out.

It seems that maybe I'm so excited about the befits of holding poses for longer and more relaxed periods, that I can't shut up about it.

So, here I am announcing to you all how much I LOVE yin yoga.

    Can yoga trigger bowels?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 05:55 AM PDT

I'm a total newbie to yoga, love it. I do it in the evenings and without fail have multiple BMs the next morning. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal and I need to push through? (No other health issues could trigger this, it's the only thing I've changed about my day)

Sore hamstring despite regular yoga. Help?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 11:22 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I've been practicing yoga for a couple of years now but since the past few weeks, I've noticed that my hamstrings are sore and stiff. It doesn't matter what poses I do, my hamstrings are very stiff. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thank you!
