Needed: yoga routines without hands Posted: 28 May 2021 03:01 PM PDT Hello there :) I have frequent wrist problems (kind of chronic inflammation, not to be discussed here) so I'm looking for yoga videos or personal asana routines that don't use poses with pressure on the hands and still make me stretch and sweat a bit. Any recommendations? I'm open for anything that keeps me from being lazy while having this issues [link] [comments] |
When moving from chaturanga to upward dog, is it necessary to shift from toes to tops of feet? Posted: 28 May 2021 06:09 PM PDT I find it much more efficient and quick for me to just stay on my toes. Is there a downside to this? If you believe it's necessary to move through to the tops of feet, how did you develop strength in your toes to make this an easy transition? [link] [comments] |

Alo moves or programs for beginner plus? Posted: 28 May 2021 08:15 PM PDT I am in Melbourne and in lockdown again. I hope to return to yoga more frequently. I did "Breath" program from Yoga with Adrienne earlier this year and enjoyed it. Has anyone used Alo and recommended the platform? I am looking for yoga for flow and flexibility. Meditation isn't my thing, but I have started to focus more on it :). I am also interested in Bare. Thanks 😊🙏 [link] [comments] |
Anyone with clicky hip get better with hip opening poses? Posted: 28 May 2021 03:50 PM PDT I am new to yoga over the past couple of months and have struggled with some basic things, like stepping through from three-legged dog to low lunge. Happy baby apparently is supposed to feel good, but for me it is painful and my hips are not very happy! I was told by a doctor once who was doing an assessment that I had very tight hips. I didn't know what that meant, but now I think it means my hip flexors are super tight. According to YouTube doctors, I failed the Thomas test on my left side. I've started doing hip opening poses daily to work on this. My right hip has clicked for years when walking and my doctor didn't seem concerned about it because it doesn't hurt, but I was wondering if anyone else has had their clicking improve/resolve once they started focusing on hip flexibility? I'm wondering if my tight hip flexors are the culprit for the clicking. Just curious! [link] [comments] |
Help understanding how to use my body in pigeon pose. Posted: 28 May 2021 05:15 PM PDT I've been trying yoga for a few months by watching various youtubers. Whenever I do yoga, I have a 1 in 3 chance of having a mental breakdown as I don't fully understand how to do every little detail, so I am hoping to get some help understanding something important here. So, for example, in this video https://youtu.be/M1gEGLtF1p0?t=143 she shows how to do pigeon pose. I can do all of the leg stuff just fine and I know where to put the block and all that, and I do feel a stretch in my hips. The problem is when I get my torso down with my head on the block and arms out, I can sorta have my shoulders relax back, but how do I keep myself up? Do I still push my arms down to keep myself up? If I don't, in not just this pose but other poses as well, my torso falls off balance, tilting, sometimes I smash my nose into the ground since I have a big nose, and stuff like that. Do I hold myself up with my spine? My legs? I just need some clarity with this pose so hopefully I know how to do this pose correctly, and maybe what I learn here I might be able to use to help other poses that I have issues with in terms of keeping my torso still and centered. Posted: 28 May 2021 11:56 AM PDT Prajñānānanda speaks of a Saint at 2:05-3:00, and a book which inspired him. Do you know of this book? The name appears not in my Google searches. Any other saints and sages which inspire you? [link] [comments] |
Thinking of trying yoga, could use advice Posted: 28 May 2021 03:27 PM PDT So I had a whole lot of health issues last year. Ended up in recovery in one form another for the majority of 2020. I ended up gaining about 50 lbs. Before all of the issues, I was really into mtn biking but god it's hard trying to start from square one again. Can't ride a whole lot with my daughter out of school. I'm wondering, would yoga possibly improve my endurance? Seems like something I could do from home a few times a week. Anyone gone through something similar? Favorite beginners youtube links? Appreciate any advice. [link] [comments] |

Semi-orgasmic “releases” of energy (blood flow stagnation[?]) while stretching hamstrings Posted: 28 May 2021 01:09 AM PDT This has happened to me a few times while in either in the standing forward bend pose, standing wide-legged forward bend or the sitting variations of those. Beforehand ok each occasion I'm pretty certain that I did some slight breathwork and deep abdominal breathing. Was just wondering if there was a yogic explanation for this and what's going on when that happens [link] [comments] |
