Posted: 26 May 2021 05:38 AM PDT I have a few theories, though I'm sure the more experienced folks have something more concrete to say. For context I've been practicing a few years now. Some months I'll go without skipping a daily practice while others I'll only squeeze in one or two. It's the latter where I'll feel like I've actually unlocked something I had never considered before - hearing a particular cue that I've either not heard or maybe understood it differently in the past. This morning was the first time I felt I unlocked mountain pose. When I closed my eyes, I actually felt taller than I had ever felt in my life. I opened my eyes and to do it again - and there the sensation was again. It was incredible! For a moment I actually thought that maybe I had in fact gotten taller, but when I opened my eyes I realized I was still just 5'3 lol. I felt 7 foot tall! Still learning and it's humbling. Anywho, thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy your practice today 🙏 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 May 2021 07:21 PM PDT I have had a few classes before but generally am a beginner. I have average flexibility so a lot of poses especially standing poses I can't bend all the way down while doing forward fold. So do I bend my legs a little and soften my knees so my hands touch the mat or do I keep my legs straight and let my arms hang out halfway down? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 May 2021 09:10 AM PDT I'm studying for a 200 hr teacher training and have practiced both yoga and Buddhism for over a decade now. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to somewhat combine the two without getting confused. I have been a Buddhist longer than a yoga practitioner but I feel like I have to choose one or the other. Thanks in advance. I hope this isn't a stupid question. Just something I've been trying to wrap my head around because tho they are similar they are still quite different in some ways. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 May 2021 11:17 AM PDT Trying to find beginning yoga for 12 year old boy. Can anyone suggest anything on YouTube or app that shows older boys (instead of just girls or younger kids) doing yoga? Thx! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 May 2021 08:30 AM PDT Hi friends! I am 21 years old and I have multiple sclerosis, newly diagnosed about 6 months ago. I am 100% mobile and fairly healthy (besides MS of course!). I do yoga at home most days except weekends, I watch yoga with Adrienne. Does anyone else here have MS and have specific routines they do? I know strength exercising yoga is amazing for those with MS. it's very difficult to see a physiotherapist where I live too as there are limited resources, so any advice/resources would be helpful! Yoga Teachers of Reddit: What's on your playlist? Posted: 26 May 2021 08:11 AM PDT My in-person studio classes start back in two weeks and I'm wanting to freshen up my playlists. My class is the "Community Class" which is geared towards all levels and is beginner friendly. It's vinyasa/vinyasa flow. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 May 2021 12:05 AM PDT Hi! I have been starting to do yoga using Down Dog since the pandemic. I usually go on about 30-40 minutes but since I am a student and has classes ongoing right now, 10-20 minutes. After a few months, I feel like I wasn't really seeing any big change in me even though every time I'm done, I feel great, I still have trouble maintaining poses without much shaking and I can't even do arm balances. Am I doing anything wrong or are there any tips in how to improve my performance? I would really love to do those awesome handstands or poses where you balance yourself (sorry for not knowing the terminologies, would love to know about them) and overall just feel great about myself. Yoga has really helped me stay in the present but sometimes, it is just frustrating that you cannot do any advanced poses even if you have been doing it for months now. Thank you in advance! Your help would be very much appreciated 😄 [link] [comments] |
What is the purpose of the whole of nature? Posted: 25 May 2021 10:57 PM PDT The experienced is composed of elements and organs, is of the nature of illumination, action, and inertia, and is for the purpose of experience and release (of the experiencer). The experienced, that is nature, is composed of elements and organs — the elements, gross and fine, which compose the whole of nature, and the organs of the senses, mind, etc. — and is of the nature of illumination (Sattva), action (Rajas), and inertia (Tamas). What is the purpose of the whole of nature? That the Purusha may gain experience. The Purusha has, as it were, forgotten its mighty, godly nature. There is a story that the king of the gods, Indra, once became a pig, wallowing in mire; he had a she-pig and a lot of baby pigs, and was very happy. Then some gods saw his plight, and came to him, and told him, "You are the king of the gods, you have all the gods under your command. Why are you here?" But Indra said, "Never mind; I am all right here; I do not care for heaven, while I have this sow and these little pigs." The poor gods were at their wits' end. After a time they decided to to slay all the pigs one after another. When all were dead, Indra began to weep and mourn. Then the gods ripped his pig-body open and he came out of it, and began to laugh, when he realised what a hideous dream he had had — he, the king of the gods, to have become a pig, and to think that that pig-life was the only life! Not only so, but to have wanted the whole universe to come into the pig-life! The Purusha, when it identifies itself with nature, forgets that it is pure and infinite. -Swami Vivekananda, Raja Yoga [link] [comments] |
