According to Iyengar this is low-level difficultly - I got into this pose without even knowing it was a real pose and since trying to get into it again it’s not been possible... prime example of how letting go of attachments and being in the moment with your body helps you to achieve the impossible!

Tips for being able to hold handstand? I’ve been really working on lower ab strength but I’m having trouble making any progress... would love some ideas!

One body area per day, or full body every day?

If time is equal, what's better?

I have a yoga course with 7 videos, 1 day is shoulders, the next is hips etc.

It also provides me with a full body video, so I'm just wondering what the better approach might be.

First Yoga Festival of the year! Excited to be back in community classes.

Anyone else going? I was at their main festival a few years ago and it was a blast. This year will be smaller.

    Resources for chair yoga?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 10:21 AM PDT

So I broke my left tibia and fibula a couple of months ago. I took it easy, as per the doctor's orders, but at this point I'm slowly building leg strength back up and retraining myself how to walk again (with the guidance of a PT of course).

The issue? I've missed yoga a lot during my recovery. I'm at a point where I feel comfortable doing chair yoga, the issue is most of the resources I've found are aimed at seniors and don't really give me the sort of work out I'm looking for. I appreciate how gentle they are on my leg, but I've built a lot of upper body strength in the past couple of months and I'd LOVE to maintain it even once I'm walking again. So, do you guys know any chair yoga resources that offer a bit of a challenge, but are sill doable for someone who is still unsteady on their feet ?

Struggling with remembering the sequences of Sun C salutations during yoga classes

    Posted: 22 May 2021 11:46 AM PDT

How do you remember the sequences of yoga during your classes? I feel that I'm pretty good at flowing through Sun A and B, the warm ups, but then when it comes to Sun C, I can't remember much. I notice that I only can do maybe a few yoga poses and then I get really lost and end up doing downward facing dog for the rest of Sun C while adding in some basic stretches on the mat.

I know the main point of yoga is to focus on your breath and its okay to add in or take out poses, but I feel like because I can't remember more yoga poses, I get kind of bored with it.

Any suggestions for your fellow beginner yogi here? Thanks!

    Safest inversion?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 03:12 PM PDT

Hello fellow yogis, I'm a semi-experienced yogi by which I mean I've been doing yoga on and off for 1 year now. I really want to start adding inversions to my practice. I started working on sirsasana for a week now and I've been getting better but I'm really scared of hurting my neck (after practice I always notice my head and neck are a little sore). Is there a "better" or safer inversion to practice for my first one? What would you recommend mastering first?

Thanks for your input in advance!! 💖

Suggestions for a phone app for mindful breathing.

    Posted: 22 May 2021 12:38 PM PDT

I'm looking for just a simple app that has a breath counter/guide that I can use in class. Nothing fancy. I'm even willing to pay for an ad free one, but I don't need the guided meditations or anything other than a breath counter. Does anyone know of a good one?

Will doing splits help align your hips?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 10:34 AM PDT

Don't know if this is the right group to post this but long story short, I have a herniated disc in my lower back L5 S1 due to my hips being uneven. I tried all types of poses and nothing seems to help. Now I'm trying to learn on how to do splits hoping it will help. Any thoughts?

How to follow your sequence or one from a book?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 08:51 AM PDT

Videos and apps like Down Dog are great for following a sequence, sometimes without even looking. But I'm struggling to find ways to follow a sequence of my own or one from a book. I wear glasses for reading and don't have the best memory so this can be very awkward and disjointed. Has anyone found a good way to solve this problem? Blackboard? Whiteboard? Yoga sequence voice generator?
