Ashtanga yoga: Evolution of the practice |
Posted: 23 May 2020 07:02 PM PDT Last Monday, 11 years ago, Guruji died. For a few years after his death, nothing seemed to have changed with the practice, no matter where one looked. Then, for a while, it seemed to me the commonalities were still greater than the differences, sometimes to my amazement. Now, it seems to me that things a drifting apart slowly but surely. Saraswathi still holding out; Sharath doing "his own thing"; Guruji's senior students getting still more senior and slowly retreating. And then any number of branches sprouting here and there, redefining the practice. Is it likely that, say, in ten years, we can still step into any shala on the planet and recognize as "Ashtanga" what is being practiced there? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 May 2020 09:18 AM PDT Before quarantine i had hiit reformer pilates classes in my weekly routine and biking as a form of commute however i didnt have any of those, just sitting and working from home untill I rediscovered jumping rope again. I started doing it because my body was in need of a hiit training, sweating and moving and so far its been going great. It gives me stamina, energy and joy. I also made almost 20 friends joining me so trying to encourage other people to move their bodies too and i am getting great feedbacks. I was wondering anyone here jumping rope next to their ashtanga practice? What changes have you noticed in your practice? [link] [comments] |
