I built a free mental health app after being stuck in my tiny studio in NYC Posted: 19 May 2020 06:14 AM PDT Although I'm worried that this might not good enough, I decided to share it here too since lots of you encouraged me ❤️ After being stuck in my tiny studio for a month due to Covid-19, I started playing around with mental health apps out there. However, I noticed that most of them require at least 10 mins or more for me to consume the audio content and I often run out of patience trying to finish them. I wanted an app that you can use without reserving much of your time. Happy is free to use and offers;

Short story on meditation and Jesus Posted: 19 May 2020 06:59 PM PDT I was raised Catholic, went to church every week until I was 16 and even spent 9 years in Catholic school (K-8th). I often think back to those years and really don't see religion being a big deal to me, I think it could stem from my parents not really practicing religion with me growing up, outside of the routine of going to church every Sunday, and saying a prayer on holidays or big family dinners. No bible, no memorable discussions, or much at home. Anyways, while every day we were taught about religion and scripture in school I guess somehow I did not incorporate it into my life and really became disinterested by the time I was 16 I pretty much stopped attending church aside from Christmas and Easter and that is to make my mom happy which I was okay with. My roommate is a practicing Christian and we chat about history, religion, existential stuff occasionally and he ended up saying something along the lines of... "On Passover Jews sacrifice the perfect lamb for God, something that is pure and without blemish as an offering. Then, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice being crucified for our sins while he himself was sinless. He was the unblemished perfect lamb." What is crazy is I've heard this all before but this just really stuck with me. Today I was doing a 15 minute guided meditation and was really comfortable that when that was over I turned it off and just focused on my breath, I was very calm then I added this thought and it brought on a lot of emotions tears just started rolling, I don't even know how or what I felt but it was very strong. Don't know what there is to this post but I felt like sharing. [link] [comments] |
“Whatever state you associate with successful meditation needs to be relinquished.“ Posted: 19 May 2020 12:08 PM PDT I heard this really cool quite while listening to Sam Harris on the Waking Up app (which my accountability partner for this month's meditation challenge was kind enough to give me a month free trial of!). As a type A perfectionist, when I first got into mindfulness I was very much obsessed with this struggle to achieve "total" mental silence and the "perfect" mindset. Hopefully these thoughts are helpful for anyone else here too :) "Whatever state you associate with successful meditation needs to be relinquished. The goal is to recognize how consciousness already is, not to produce some temporary feelings of inner peace. Ultimately, meditation is about recognizing that consciousness is already free of the problem you're trying to solve in this moment. It's already open. It's already free of the feeling of self, this feeling of being separated from experience, this feeling of being a passenger in your own body, stuck up in your head. Glimpsing this freedom, again and again, is different from manufacturing some transitory state of peacefulness." [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2020 09:41 PM PDT I was looking at some word pronunciation videos and while looking at the random words I sort of when into meditation. But this was different since you are concentrating on things instead of just your breath. Its sort of like a reverse meditation. Would like for you guys to try it out. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marlon.randomwordmeditation [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 May 2020 01:07 AM PDT Today I meditated more deeply than usual. I've never gone this deep in meditations. My eye lids were flicking rapidly and I had a vision. I started seeing shapes, triangles, squares etc. I also saw a pyramid, and a baby radiating blue on top of the pyramid, the sky was pink and cloudy. When I finished my meditation, I felt like I came back to my body. I looked at my hands and they almost felt like it was mine. I've never felt this way before... Im a bit scared.. Im not really sure what I'm looking for posting here. But if anyone's experienced similar, please share if this is a common vision or if I should/ shouldn't be scared. I guess As much I want to open my third chakra for personal healing and enlightenment, I'm scared of things I'll see/experience.. [link] [comments] |

I kicked something in my uncounsciesness during meditation Posted: 19 May 2020 01:32 PM PDT So a few days ago a postwd here that I started meditating for 31 minutes twice a day. Everything went great, and tonight my friend sent me some meditation rhytms (963 hz). I tried it and it was weird. The experience as a whole was really intense and more transcendent than I am able to dive into by myself wothout music. I dived on and focused on the sounds. Ocassionaly, I saw some patterns, lights and so on, no biggie. But then I realized that I am looking at a face that looked like face carved into tree, and he smiled at me, it was so pleasuring - I didnt make it up, it just appeared. Because of that I got distracted a little bit, so it took me a while to get back in. And then things got a little bit weird, I saw some faces or sceneries that were not scary in the true meaning of the word, but were odd, even disturbing. I saw a girl blinking so fast and then I saw a boy trying to scream, without sound and then his face kind of melted. I was intruiged and watched it without fear, for a while. Then it started crawling up on me a bit. Now I am laying in my bed being more exhausted then before the meditation and telling myself that maybe some deep chakra music and mantra is a little too high level yet for me. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 May 2020 01:59 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've been meditating for around two months now - 64 days to be exact - with Insight Timer (a meditation app). In the beginning I noticed quite some positive changes, I was more aware of my surroundings and my thoughts. I was feeling happier overall. I had set a goal for myself to meditate for at least 20 minutes a day - 10 minutes per session. However, the past few weeks, meditating itself has been a chore. During the meditation I'm distracted really easily. I keep looking at how long the meditation lasts. And I'm constantly busy with other things. I also notice that guided meditations don't do it for me anymore. Do you guys have any tips for a beginner? I really appreciate the help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2020 09:30 PM PDT Hi, So I randomly started meditating again, and something weird happened. I started hearing the sound of waves that matched my breathing and as it got clearer as a sound, I started having intense frisson. Like, wave on wave and the intensity started to creep me out. The dark behind my eyes got really 3D (I don't really know how to explain it. Like, suddenly depth was added) and I halfway expected to start hearing someone/thing talk to me which got me extra creeped out. I immediately stopped. Curiously, I tried again and it happened again! Over and over. I've never felt so much frisson nor has meditation ever creeped me out. I feel like I need a buddy next time, just in case. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening or has had similar experiences? [link] [comments] |
Question from someone that knows nothing about any of this. Posted: 19 May 2020 06:51 PM PDT I'm just curious about meditation. Is it all religious and spiritual or can I meditate just to be more chill and in the moment. [link] [comments] |

First deep meditation experience or sleep? Posted: 19 May 2020 06:02 PM PDT I'm a little unsure if what I experienced was meditation or I fell asleep. I don't practice often but with isolation I've been trying again this time felt different. I was taking deep paused breathes when suddenly I felt a feeling I can only describe as floating on water and my mind feeling adrift with white circles and indistinct voices. I let myself feel this way for what felt like a long time and pulled myself out of it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2020 11:54 PM PDT I have recently started doing 10-15 minutes of meditation for the past few days. What I do is I just sit cross legged on the floor and just notice/feel my breathing in and my breathing out. Also, what happens in between this is that I often start thinking about somethings that I would have been recently been thinking about during the day. What happens next to it is that I get sucked into a dream or I start sleeping but soon I realise what I was doing and when I open my eyes it's been 15 minutes. So the question is is there wrong something here and if yes, please do correct me suggesting ways how to do it [link] [comments] |
This is what Interdimensional beings is Posted: 19 May 2020 11:45 PM PDT So I hear what is interdimensional beings well I'll tell you when you close your eyes and you see these entities in your vision and it has to be a clear picture that doesn't fade. You see when you do drugs such as DMT with your eyes close it takes you to a different dimension (a interdimension) you can meditate with your eyes close it can take you to interdimensions and there beings that live out there. Deep Mediation you can grab information from universe. I believe the universe is inside us because you can remote view the past and present. Anyways if anyone was wondering what interdimensional beings are there it is [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2020 07:53 PM PDT I haven't meditates in a while. I used a 36 min song bowl video I have used before (last time had a very cathartic experience) but this time I have to say it was so incredibly uncomfortable. My whole body kept spasming, I couldn't keep still. I forced myself to go through the whole thing and now I feel exhausted. Like I literally just went though some shit. Idk what this means. Is this a valid form of meditation? Posted: 19 May 2020 11:38 PM PDT I have CPTSD (actually diagnosed), so meditation can either be an absolute blessing for me or send me spiraling into panic attacks. When it works, it works insanely well, and when it doesn't, it's hell. I had a hell session the other day. I found myself wildly dissociated and came out freaking out. I forced myself to focus on objects around me, and had an epiphany. I realized for the first time in my life, and this may sound weird to those not afflicted by this condition, that I was actually SEEing things. My normal field of vision just kind of blurs everything together. I realized that I never see objects in their solid sole form due to depersonalization/derealization. It really grounded me. Is this something that would be considered a meditation to continue? [link] [comments] |
Does sexuality tend to fade with prolonged meditation practice? Posted: 19 May 2020 05:30 PM PDT Or is it just life? I've been meditating for 6 years daily. I'm very much aware of how meditation changed my life, I'm conscious of many transformations that have been produced by the practice, and I love it. I think I've found [my way]/[the way]/[a way]. I'm 33 years old, fit, queer. I'm at ease with my body and I greatly enjoy it. And I'm surprised, for having noticed these last two years my sexual desire tends to be milder as time (and practice) go by. Many suttas describe sexuality as a source of suffering. I've experienced that. But I've also gone through many beautiful and significant sexual experiences that have made me grow as well. I believe that sexuality is a vital part of life, despite accepting that it changes with age. That's why I ask myself if it is dissaparing, or just becoming something new. I enjoy sexuality, though fortunately I've learned not to cling to it (yet -infinite- work remains -always- to be done). Has anyone else experienced something similar? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2020 11:20 PM PDT I started meditating around 2 weeks ago and i've noticed that i'm starting to get a lot more irritated at things and i've been feeling more anxious. Is there something I am doing wrong? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2020 11:01 PM PDT I've taken a months long hiatus of meditation due to laziness, life has been really stressful and exhausting. My mental health was deteriorating day by day. I got back into meditation today and after my 20 minute session I started crying tears of joy, for the first time in months i felt peace. [link] [comments] |
Fear of being attacked by demons/shadows while meditating Posted: 19 May 2020 03:04 PM PDT I have been averse to meditation for a few years now. Every time I try, guided or with ambient music or binaural beats my mind starts centring on this fear. I feel vulnerable to psychic attacks from spirits/shadow people. Is this possible? Is there a way to protect myself? Please help. I'm struggling to find myself and really wish to meditate and be at peace but this fear and anxiety is draining me. Is it possible that there is a presence in my room that is making me feel this way? If yes, how could I confirm that and/or banish these spirits/shadows? [link] [comments] |
Ask yourself this: Do I want an escape or do I want a release? Posted: 19 May 2020 12:59 PM PDT The escape being an act of releasing yourself from the obstacle, yet leaving the obstacle perfectly intact where it is. The release being an act of letting the obstacle itself escape from the shackles of your mind. [link] [comments] |
