Ashtanga yoga: Transition between Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and adho mukha svanasana |
Transition between Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and adho mukha svanasana Posted: 15 Jun 2020 09:23 AM PDT Hello, I've seen a video on youtube "Primary Series Ashtanga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUgtMaAZzW0) and one of the practitioners does a mini pose when transitioning between Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and adho mukha svanasana. (https://youtu.be/aUgtMaAZzW0?t=273 for example). Can anyone explain further as to this mini pose, is this part of the series? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 06:33 AM PDT For the past couple of years, I have had some nagging shoulder pain that coincided with me beginning to do yoga consistently (Vinyasa 2-3x a week). My family doc said it's tendinitis or possibly arthritis, and told me avoid doing anything that hurts. I began doing Ashtanga in January of this year, which led to an increase in the severity of pain and a decrease in range of motion. I've tried like crazy to adjust my chaturanga (which is a huge instigator of the pain) but to no avail. I've resorted to just doing a static high plank and going from there into updog, which has resulted in less pain. I've no doubt that this group has some good advice and has probably discussed shoulder pain before, but I'd love to hear from folks who have overcome a similar issue. I want to be able to practice pain free and still build strength while still enjoying all the spiritual benefits of Ashtanga! [link] [comments] |
