30 days of yoga with Adrienne day 5

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:16 AM PDT

Adriene said I'd feel alive and she wasn't kidding. I'm definitely feeling the burn after this session. I do feel like I'm getting physically stronger and emotionally better.

Did my first sequence without a video as guidance!

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:30 AM PDT

So I've practiced on and off for years but about 2 or 3 months ago I started doing yoga 2-3 times a week. Usually following Yoga with Adrienne videos, but today I was just feeling it and did my own sequence. Stayed in poses as long or as short as I wanted. It just felt really good. No pressure to keep up and I did what felt good. Great start to the day (and week!)

10th day into basic Yoga... zero previous experience

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 03:14 PM PDT

As title really, started a daily 20-minute guided session and I'm blown away with the results. Physically I can feel my muscle gain more core strength each day, my body is showing really healthy results but most importantly it's bringing out some really positive things in me mentally.

I'm blown away and really looking forward to learning more.

I created a playlist that really helps me stay focused during my yoga sessions. It has a super calm ambient vibe with subtle piano on top. I thought some people might like it and it can help them to stay focused. Feel free to give it a listen. Hope you like it!

Is doing yoga and a separate stretching routine on the same day okay or overkill?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 12:58 PM PDT

Hi! I started yoga at home around 3-4 months ago and I've been choosing different 30 or 7 day challenges, so I made it a habit to practice daily. However, I'm not quite flexible which I'd like to improve and also make my soreness from weight training (5-6 times a week) better so I thought about stretching separately around 3 times a week. I'm not sure if it's advised or not, does anyone have any experience?

    Stress relief yoga suggestions?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 08:37 PM PDT

    Hey,

I've been practising yoga for a few months now with a focus on strength and fitness.

I am now looking for a programme I can follow which is better suited to release tension and provide relief from stress. Something which allows me to really relax whilst still building some flexibility (which I currently lack).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks :)

    Yoga Classes at Work

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 12:54 PM PDT

Hey! So I've started a new job that offers yoga classes in the workplace which colleagues and clients are both welcome to attend, but I'm in two minds about going along. I've practiced yoga for 2-3 years and feel confident enough, but I don't tend to mix work activities with personal activities as a general rule to keep some boundaries between my relaxation time and professional life. Does anyone here have experience attending at-work yoga sessions, particularly in a role that is not related to yoga? How did it go? Is it worth mixing the two? Seems like it could be a good new experience to create bonds with colleagues, but I'm somewhat hesitant! Any feedback you might have would be great! Namaste.

    is this normal ?

I am a male and I was wondering if I should take a day or two off from stretching ?

Lowering from plank to the ground

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:18 PM PDT

I'm recently restarting yoga after a break and this has always been a transition I struggle with. I get to a certain point and give up and flop basically haha

Any advice on how to gain strength, hold the pose differently, or cues to make it smoother?

    Thanks for your help :)

    Need Opinions!

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 05:58 PM PDT

    Hey guys!

So I have been to both yoga and hot yoga... they were both very different experiences (to say the least). But I was wondering if one may be better for you? I know there are benefits to both, of course, but if I had to chose to dedicate myself to one, what would you recommend?

    yoga=solace

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 08:46 AM PDT

During the last few weeks, my mental health has rapidly deteriorated. I've felt hopeless and helpless, something I suspect is common during these precarious, unpredictable times. Quarantine and the state of the world has definitely been getting to me. Last week I saw a lot of comments praising the down dog app. I've struggled to find yoga videos & youtube channels that I feel I can fully engage with and always found it hard to practice outside of a formal class setting. That all changed when I started using down dog last week. I really love it and have practiced every day in the last week. It has provided me with time in which I can be completely with myself and connect with my body in a positive way. I feel strong, calm, and in control during my practice and it has given a small slice of peace. Thank you to this sub.

    Tips for symmetry?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 07:46 AM PDT

Hi all :) I hope this is the right place for this.

So I really want to move onto practicing on my own. The only problem is that I forget my flow when I move to the other side! So I'll do a flow on the right side, and then forget the sequence when I go to the left. Do you have any tips for this?

    Glo Yoga vs. Alo Moves

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 02:39 PM PDT

I've already searched and read some posts about these two subscriptions and also posts for recommendations of online yoga platforms overall. I'm also doing a free trial of both at the moment. I live in California and from my experience so far it seems like Glo is more 'Norcal' and Alo is more 'Socal'... By which I mean Glo has more lowkey but experienced teachers focusing on anatomy/form and spiritual aspects whereas Alo is more fitness focused with insta famous teachers. However, given my limited exposure to the two from the free trial, I'm not sure if my first impressions is accurate. Can anyone else with more experience on either platform comment on their overall feel for the general style of the classes?

I originally preferred Glo but I was able to get a deal for Alo at $100 for annual subscription, which comes down to $8 per month vs Glo's $18 per month. I think the price difference is enough for me to commit to Alo instead but wanted to hear if anyone feels strongly about either platform?

    Online yoga and neck pain

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 02:14 PM PDT

I've been doing online yoga and my neck gets so very sore because I'm frequently having to look at the screen. I've adjusted the screen to be as ergonomic as possible but am still suffering. I'm at a point where I just don't want to do it. Please, any tips would be appreciated.

    Help with arm inversions please

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 08:19 AM PDT

I really want to get better at forearm and elbow stands, and I can feel I'm doing it wrong but I don't know how to fix it. I was hoping someone could explain what a forearm or elbow stand is supposed to feel like when done correctly.

I do shoulder stands fine with my legs and core correctly, and I've been working on my arm strength, but it always feels off. In articles and videos they talk about pushing somehow but I end up pushing my shoulders into a really weird angle instead of the L shape. I've tried doing it on a wall and even with my legs up on the bed thinking maybe my arms are just too weak, but its the same issue. I don't know what the end goal feels like or how to hold myself up properly so I can't practice it right.
