[COMP] sunset yoga play time under the mountain this evening

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:06 AM PDT

Started yoga this week courtesy of Adrienne

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 04:40 PM PDT

On day three of her 30 day series and I've never had so much fun exercising. I'm 230 lb so when I do some exercises I literally putting that much on me and it's so tough but so rewarding. I feel amazing after each session. So far my only issue is I can't get comfortable in the seated pose sitting position because I have huge thighs and no ass. I've also bought an exercise band to assist my squats so hopefully that combined with yoga will help in the booty department.

    Love it!

    Favorite books for Savasana readings?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 05:36 PM PDT

    Hey folks!

I'm a yoga teacher and am feeling like my readings for savasana are starting to feel a bit stale so I'm looking for some new material/inspiration. Doesn't have to be strictly yogic. I'm totally down for books of poetry, compilations of readings and inspiration quotes, etc.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

any thoughts or questions for yoga in general?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 01:44 PM PDT

What would be your top question in yoga. Related to anything you like. Body Anatomy, asana alignment, benefits, philosophy, god inspired asanas... etc..

Just asking for inspiration on what I could focus on and help the community with some informative posts just for here on Reddit :)

Any questions or thoughts you would like answered or discussed more ?

    Balance and strength

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:03 PM PDT

Hi folks, I'm relatively new to Yoga, I started a class in January and continued at home during quarantine with good old Yoga with Adrienne. My long term goal is to progress to the more advanced balance and strength poses that I see so many people practicing on here but I'm not clear on how to get from point A to B. Can anyone recommend a video series that will teach and work me toward this goal?

[COMP] any tips for getting my hands/ wrists under my shoulders for a more uniform power pose?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:57 AM PDT

Is a yoga bolster a good idea? It is quite expensive. I do want to relax properly in some of these poses , and I do push myself at times with control. Who VOWS a bolster works?

    Pain when doing hasta bhanda

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 01:40 PM PDT

I am a healthy 22 year old women that used to be a competitive gymnast in highschool. I Never had any writst issues when doing gymnastics. I recently came across a Yoga with Adrienne video that explained doing hasta bandha in poses like downward dog and table top position. She says that doing the hasta bandha prevents future injury. I have never really noticed wrist pain in downdog or table top without doing the hand lock. However when I do try to do those poses with hasta bandha my wrists get extremely extremely sore. Is this just something I have to get used to to build up muscle in the wrists? Or should I just forget about doing hasta bandha altogether because it causes pain?

How to crow pose? Please help

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:53 PM PDT

Sorry I know this sub is like 90% about crow pose but I really need some advice. I've been doing yoga for about four years, went to three classes and since last month I started practicing at least twice a week. My balance with basic Asanas (tree, dancer, eagle) is fine, but I feel like my arms are way too weak for crow. It also hurts when I press my knees against my arms, it's really uncomfortable and no matter how I shift, it doesn't work. I have a set of cards with very good descriptions of the poses but although I follow the instructions I can't do it. Is it really a matter of strength in the arms or am I doing something wrong?

Leg/Hamstring Strengthening Exercises for Handstand Kick-Offs?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 07:56 AM PDT

    Hey fellow yogis~

So I have a bad habit.....of kicking off into handstands with my more dominant/stronger leg- merp! I've been wanting to even things out and practice with my other leg but it just feels so....weak and foreign. Almost like when you try using your non-dominant hand! Of course, I barely get any lift-off at all.

Does anyone have any tips or specific leg/hamstring strengthening exercises to build up that mobility without tiring your muscles out easily? I've been trying to do baby kick-offs/jumps with the weaker leg, but I feel like my muscles tire out so easily from the continuous landings/impact and I feel like I'm not getting much practice time in.

Just something that will probably get better over time, I'm sure!

I did full camel for the first time!

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 11:02 PM PDT

This is my first time posting in the community, so I just wanted to say hello to you all!

I've been doing yoga for a bit, and finally accomplished a full camel pose today! It's been that one pose I've dreaded for so long. I typically prop myself up on my toes but decided to give the full pose a try. I blew myself away when I realized I could actually do it! I don't really have anyone IRL to share this with who understands the level of excitement I'm feeling, and I thought maybe the community here could relate. This a huge personal accomplishment for me and I'm so proud of myself!

I thought I would be in pain, but after doing it a few times through it provided much needed relief in my very tense shoulder area. It's far better than any foam roller!

Reversible Lululemon 5mm mat?? Which side for which?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:26 AM PDT

    Hey all

Am new to yoga, only been practicing for about 4 months now, but it's become a daily staple for me and I am absolutely loving it. I had been using this weird workout mat from Walmart that we just had hanging around our basement, but I decided to treat myself to a fancy proper yoga mat because..why not?! So I read a ton of reviews on here and went with the Lulelemon Reversible 5mm mat in black. It looks and smells like a seal, but I like it so far. Only thing is..I have no idea what side I should be using?! There are 2 different consistencies to the material, so I'm sure one side is great for _____ and the other side is great for ______, but am having no luck filling in those blanks lol.

Anyone on here able to offer any insight?! ty!!!!

    Back pain due to Yoga

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:21 AM PDT

    Dear Yogis!

I've started with online practices since April of this year and I fell in love with it. However, since last thrusday I've got this horrible back pain under my left shoulder blade. Initially I've started doing Yoga in order to get a stronger back so it doesn't hurt that much (every doctor advised me to do training due to my spine and back pain). So.. I don't know what to do.. I stopped now but when I have to work it is unbearable. :(

I think I've done too much..?

So, my question.. did that ever happen to you? And what did you do?

Muscle Insertion areas or bones cracking?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 06:37 AM PDT

I have been practicing yoga on off, but only really dedicated myself daily (again) when my girlfriend moved in. I have been noticing my body cracks when entering poses -and the relief is amazing! But I've wondered, does anyone else encounter this? Or do you have an explanation for why it happens?

How do you clean your bamboo mats

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 05:48 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask you if you have any tips when it comes to cleaning bamboo yoga mats. I own bodhi mat and while I love it it's a nightmare to clean. Everything sticks to it and I can't clean it with a cloth cuz it also sticks to it and it doesn't really get all the dust out of it. The only way to get it clean is getting it under the shower but it's really time consuming and difficult as I have a small shower and don't rly have much space to dry it. Any tips would be appreciated!
