Welcome to Form Check Friday! Here is the link to all previous Form Check Fridays

Please post a photo or video of the stretch you'd like to be critiqued. Do include any specific questions you have about your form.

Your video or photo should be:

    • Oriented the correct way, we want to see the lines of your body
    • Be formatted such that there isn't unnecessary video of you preparing for the move (keep it short)
    • Have the important bits of the movement clearly visible (multiple angles is always useful)
    • Include the whole body

    Rules for critiquing form

    • Constructive criticism only
    • Feel free to point others to resources that address their form and/or questions if you aren't "qualified" to give them advice yourself

If your form is awesome, consider posting it in the Show Off Sunday thread!

I want to know how long it took for all of you particularly to achieve back flexibility, shoulder, and legs, and hip flexibility. What poses have you achieved and how many times do you stretch a week?

How many years have you been dancing?

How many years have you been stretching for ?

I know everyone is different however for a scorpion pose how long did it take to achieve if you achieved it?

Is it normal for my legs to start shaking when trying to stretch my hamstrings?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 05:32 AM PDT

    Hello,

As someone new to stretching and flexibility, I've noticed that when I stretch my hamstrings while lying on the floor with legs in the air (like this), my legs start to shake.

What does this mean and is this something I should worry about? Is it normal, or should I reduce the intensity?

I've noticed that it happens only while I'm lying on the floor with legs up in the air, not when I'm doing any other type of stretch like seated, or standing.

    Help?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 03:57 PM PDT

I've been trying to achieve my middle splits for a couple months now, but ever since I've started one leg as a sharp pain every specific movement followed by more general soreness while the other leg is normal. Should I keep trying to stretch through or rest it for a week or two?

Pain in back of the knee (popliteal fossa) while stretching.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 01:01 PM PDT

Hello. I'm fairly new to stretching but I think I'm making good progress. But whenever I sit with my legs straight together in front and try to touch my hands to my toes and chest to the thighs the back of my knee hurts. Is this normal? Or will it cause any harm?

    Quick Question re: 90-90 stretch!

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 11:25 AM PDT

For the 90-90 stretch, with a focus on internal rotation what is the correct way to utilise PNF or contract-relax?

    • Should I be driving the knee of my internally rotated leg into the ground?

    • Or should I be driving the foot of my internally rotated leg into the ground?
