Ashtanga yoga: Primary/secondary half splits |
| Posted: 19 Dec 2020 03:53 PM PST Hi. I was told by my teacher that I will receive half splits over Xmas. I would love to know what other ashtangies think of it. I have a very long practice at the moment so I am looking forward to cutting it down a bit. But unsure about how changing the order of the asanas will affect me. | Newbie question about length of practice Posted: 19 Dec 2020 04:01 AM PST Hi everyone! I just started practicing ashtanga 2 months ago (I was only able to go twice to a shala due to covid in France) and up to now I practice up to Marichyasana A and a few extra flexibility asanas my teacher gave me for opening the hips. So I would reckon timewise its similar to doing 1/2 primary. Yesterday I really took it super slow and aware of my breath and it took me very close to 2h to do; yet I felt really amazing during the whole day, no pain (have knee injury) and have slept the best I have in very long! Making my breath really long and calming and really focusing on it. I was wondering whether there is a ´´too slow´´ way of practicing or whether it differs for you guys from day to day.
