Flexibility: After battling with sciatica all this year I've overcome 95% of it and have gotten my flexibility back. 6 months ago I couldn't even touch my knees. Can't wait to go beyond where I'm at now.

I have been working more on squaring my hips, but without a coach it’s hard to judge. Does my form look correct?

I know it's not the splits and I know it's not perfect. But in a year with so few wins, I'm going to celebrate the little things.

After doing just yoga for awhile, I felt like I needed to really focus on getting flexible, especially in my hamstrings, so that I could make progress and avoid injuries. I messed around with the Starting to Stretch routine for a few weeks before finding Tom Merrick on YouTube. I followed his Beginner Hamstring routine two days a week with a few of his other routines on in-between days, for a total of just four weeks.

I've never understood until now what people mean when they say "I've never felt so good", because even though I still have a long way to go, it feels good to have gotten this far.

    Very tight lower body

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:38 AM PST

Hello. Recently I started working out and stretching again, but the problem is my left hip. I'm doing the program on this subreddit that helps to gain strength to do a nice full squat. But what I noticed, that when I try to do hip mobility work, on my left side( for example Lying Hip Rotation) I feel a lot of pain in the inner thigh near the groin. I do other stretching exercises and when doing them I can feel that it hurts but it also stretches at the same time, but doing this exercise I can only feel a lot of pain. I'm not sure if I should continue to do it. My goal is to do a deep body weight squat, going bellow parallel.

In the past I used to do calisthenics, but my lower body flexibility is horrible (I can barely spread my legs for pancake), but I can easily while seated touch my toes and hold my heels so I have a lot of imbalances and don't know where to start to minimize them and gain lower body mobility

I'm hoping that someone will help me. Thanks for the tips, and suggestion.

Tight shoulders and lower back pain.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:07 AM PST

I have always struggled with upper back and shoulder flexibility, any back bend I find uncomfortable because I over do it with my lower back and hip extension rather than it being an even stretch throughout my spine. So my question is, what are people's go to stretched for upper back/chest and shoulders? Or if anyone had the same issue, what made the difference for you?

Books about flexibility, stretching, foam rolling, etc.

Hi. I would like to gain some knowledge about the stuff I mentioned in the title. I look forward to reading a book which would explain to me the basic things about foam rolling or stretching, would suggest some good habits to implement and mention the bad ones to avoid them, etc.
Generally, I would like to know more and reading a book or two seems like a good idea. Could you recommend me a good book that mention a lot of essential facts and is not outdated?

    Stretching feedback from machine learning?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:02 AM PST

I have been working from home for years -- I'm a mobile app developer & designer. Staying active, working out has been one way to keep my health in good condition but recently I wanted to get into basic stretching too, as there are a lot of health benefits. And while researching with what I should start I got the idea about an app that would have different guided stretching exercises which would also check the form of the exercises by using the phone camera and machine learning. That lead me to a couple of questions for the community.

Would you use an app like that for quick daily stretching routines? Would something like that be beneficial to already experienced people?
