Yoga done imperfectly still blesses your life Posted: 19 Dec 2020 02:06 PM PST I'm not talking about bad form that causes injuries. The other day I was cranky and tired. I really wanted to skip my practice. And it seemed like so much work to change clothes and get set up. So I decided to just do 15 minutes in the clothes I was already wearing. It was a great session. No, obviously practicing in jeans is not going to improve asanas, but it definitely improved my mood and my ability to connect with myself and add some kindness to the world around me. If anyone else needs permission to take shortcuts, remember that yoga is for your whole self, not just your physical body. [link] [comments]
There really is yoga for everything! Posted: 19 Dec 2020 05:57 AM PST So I've practiced yoga on and off but have come back to it recently as suggested by my therapist. She recommended restorative yoga for PTSD, and I've been practicing just using youtube videos at home (usually Bad Yogi or Yoga with Adriene). Recently though I've been searching for videos that fit any ailment I'm feeling at the start of my day. Anxiety? Check. Menstrual cramps? Check. Constipation? Check. Hip tightness? Check. I knew that yoga could help with so many things, but it just hit me this morning that yoga really is an all encompassing tool for anything people might be struggling with. Ailment/restorative yoga videos always seem to have modifications as well. This probably isn't a surprising revelation for most of you here, just sharing my happy thoughts about where yoga is taking me and will take me in the future. :) [link] [comments]
Yoga studios breaking COVID rules Posted: 19 Dec 2020 08:45 AM PST I'm seeing too many Instagram posts from yoga studios breaking COVID rules. In my city, the rule is 25% capacity with masks on at all times. Various studios and yoga teachers are posting online videos/pictures with way more than 25% capacity and not a single person has a mask on. I am angry because there are so many yoga studios in my area that had to close forever and then there are these other studios that are breaking these COVID rules. I'm also angry because I've lost 2 people in my family due to COVID and there are these people not taking it seriously. What would you do? What should I do? [link] [comments]
Best a la carte virtual live yoga classes (East Coast US) Posted: 19 Dec 2020 03:01 PM PST Hi! I'm searching for studio/platform that has great online live classes for all levels and lets you pay per-class if possible. Would love to hear your experiences. [link] [comments]
Intense pain in skin if I touch it while stretching Posted: 19 Dec 2020 02:16 PM PST When stretching, I seem to get this intense pain in the skin of my legs as though it's splitting if I touch it. It's bad enough that sometimes I need to break poses to take a breath if it happens. I'm pretty flexible otherwise- I can do the splits, etc, but it's like the skin of my legs is especially tight. I've moisturized since I was about five so it isn't dryness. Any ideas for what it could be? [link] [comments]

| Better flexibility during naked yoga? Posted: 19 Dec 2020 02:02 PM PST I noticed doing yoga naked i can be more flexible in certain positions. Is this just a mental thing or do clothes really hinder certain positions? I really surprised myself a few times and wondered if it was just a coincidence. Maybe I'm progressing simultaneously? | Posted: 19 Dec 2020 09:47 AM PST Hey all! Recently found out I have significant joint hypermobility. I've been told to limit stretching and work on strengthening and stabilizing. Anyone else out there have this issue? What are your favorite routines? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Dec 2020 01:12 PM PST Has anybody else tried Apple Fitness+ yoga yet? I will say I bought an Apple Watch SE so I have the 3 month trial so I figured I'd check it out. I've been using Down Dog since April and love love love it...but think I might be making the switch to Apple. The instructors are all super engaging and give you a lot more opportunity to play in the poses. I probably could carry this over to Down Dog but that had really been my entry into yoga since April. I do still like the customization of DD, especially some of the boosts so I feel like I might be missing some of the more difficult poses I had been getting into like flying pigeon and AF+ seems like it's appealing to a broader audience (which is great). But even after a week of AF+ I'm already way deeper into some poses than I ever was with DD. Definitely going to stick with it for a bit longer and see where it takes me! [link] [comments]
