| I'm overweight and live a sedentary lifestyle. how do i start? Posted: 09 Jan 2021 02:08 PM PST because of my titled factors, I'm developing a lot of weakness and tightness around my body. when it comes to flexibility. id consider myself "in the negative." primarily, I just want to fix my posture and start moving away from my current lifestyle. do practice techniques? follow a flow? | Serious: Question about impact of males having a plug in your anus on your bodily alignment. Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:24 PM PST Since June I've been doing yoga classes almost daily (my wife opened a studio at the beginning of 2020) and I've been making awesome progress on my over all flexibility and strength. Specifically, my spine alignment during the various folds and other poses. I'm pretty happy about it. However, one of my main weak spots is my lower core and pelvic floor. That whole "tuck in your pelvis" cue. I can barely do valasana (boat) and can just now hold malasana without a block and my feet flat. On a seemly unrelated note, I've gotten into anal play play with my wife over the last few years. I won't lie, as a guy, it feels amazing to have sex while a plug is in your ass. 10/10, would recommend. Here is where those two worlds meet. Recently, my wife and I noticed that when I had the plug in, my back was super straight and my pelvis was pushing forward. It wasn't just visual, I could feel a difference. After a few more observations, I decided to do a little testing. I've put the plug in and did some movement and poses. It's crazy how much of a difference I can find. My core stays engaged easier, my hips are able to rotate forward more easily, and my back is straight as a board. The question is WHY? What is occurring with a plug in my ass that makes my posture and bodily awareness so much better? I'd love to get some insight and pointed to any resource that may provide more info. Thanks in advance for what I'm sure will be an interesting post. [link] [comments] |
| Is the same routine every evening okay? Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:44 PM PST Hi All, I've been doing yoga off and on over the years. I'm probably at experienced beginner level. I've done a lot of poses but I'm still weak. I've realized I need to make my workouts simple or I don't do them. I like doing yoga in the evening, just 15-20 minutes to unwind at the end of the day. The problem is I don't keep it up. I start for 1-2 weeks the stop. I get stuck choosing my workout and I never decide what to do and then don't do it. If I were to get really simple and do the same routine every night do I risk injury or overdoing it in some areas while neglecting others? Will this cause problems? I just want something I don't have to think about, (because that stops me from doing the workout,) and eventually that I can do without following a video. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
| Please help! Sprained a muscle just from moving around with a bit of shadow boxing and dancing. Posted: 09 Jan 2021 03:30 PM PST I'm 26, male and I do not want to spend the rest of my life in fear that moving my muscles around, such as in dancing or boxing will just result in sprains. There has to be a way to make these muscles stronger and more flexible so that I can utilise them better and not just become someone that hurts his back getting out of bed. This is something I'm really concerned about and Google isn't clear what will work. I've come here because I feel that it may be necessary to begin yoga to help with this. Thanks [link] [comments] |

| Question regarding technology that I can use for online courses. Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:38 AM PST Which kind of bluetooth headset do you use? It would need to be something that is between 100 and 300 dollars and with mikrophone and headphones. I should be able to move and show the asana to the students. Any recommendations? Namaste! | yoga after possible muscle strain? Posted: 09 Jan 2021 09:01 AM PST Hi all. I'm fairly new to my journey with yoga and have been practicing for just about a month now (self-learning with youtube videos). I've been doing really well with listening to my body and pushing just far enough to progress but not to injure myself. Well I was following along a yoga flow and attempted the lizard pose variation where you bend the back leg and grab onto it for the first time and I felt a sudden pain in the back hamstring of that leg and stopped immediately. It feels a little sore and tight now (noticeable but not any significant pain) but I don't want to risk worsening it. Should I stop all leg stretching until I no longer feel soreness there or is there any light work I can do to help it heal and not slow down the progress I've been making? Thanks for any guidance. | Yoga for spine and healthy living Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:37 PM PST Hey I am very new to yoga but I believe I have the mental resolve to handle it and challenge my self by adding it to my routine. Just like many others I have spent a long time sitting and believe my posture can improve. Will it help with my spine? I read there are some poses I should steer away from, but I came here to ask what would you guys recommend. Are there any resources that you would recommend for me to further delve into this pursuit? Thank you so much for spending time to respond in advance. [link] [comments] |
| Finding classes that are suitable Posted: 09 Jan 2021 08:49 AM PST Hello! I am 18 and I have been doing yoga on and off for about a year. I have okay flexibility in some places, god awful in others, but I'm terrible with strength. I have been working on improving this at home, but I'm thinking about finding a class in my area as I am enjoying watching myself progress. What is your advice for choosing a class? Many of the affordable classes in my area are recreational and during school hours, so I'm considering an actual yoga studio. What things should I look for while comparing classes? Does age make a difference? Thanks everyone! (PS, if you have a specific recommendation for northern NJ by chance, that works too!) [link] [comments] |
| [HELP] Struggling to get back to the form Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:00 AM PST Hello everyone! I've been doing yoga from past 10 months. Recently I took a break for almost a month and now I'm really struggling to make proper poses and stay in them. My hamstrings, shoulder joints, everything feels tight. Is it normal? Or should I slow down and start from the scratch again? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jan 2021 07:54 AM PST I just read r/yoga's FAQ but I'm back here because I need to combine several of the subreddits most common questions, and for that I apologize. This past year I've had growing wrist pain from a combination of computer use and daily vinyasa style yoga. What free resource (or something actually worth a modest sum) resource is out there for me. I'm not interested in $20/month sites, I just can't justify that but I'm not opposed to small amounts of money. $120 for 3 hours isn't going to work. It's not that I wouldn't pay people for their worth but I'm raising 3 kids on state employee pay, cash isn't swirling around here. (Lots of words on money here, I think that is my guilt showing.) YouTube would be great. But maybe someone already has a sequence printed? I'm looking for mindful strength at home. I feel like I just don't know the right word for a practice style that avoids heavy wrist usage. I'd like to use yoga as strength training but I need yoga for the kind reflection and breathing. Like, are their yoga consultants that can build me a practice? IDK I'm open to ideas. TIA! [link] [comments] |
| how does a 50 year old lethargic male with muscle inflammation start yoga? Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:23 AM PST i think this is the only sensible "workout" for someone my age. but how to get started? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jan 2021 08:14 AM PST My left knee always hurts when going into bridge pose. Even the slightest movement going up into one i have pain. My right one is fine and doesnt hurt at all. Anyone know what i can do? I dont have pain in that knee throughout the day. Its only in bridge pose. [link] [comments] |
| Can yoga help with inner child healing? Posted: 09 Jan 2021 02:58 AM PST Pretty much what the title says. I posted a few days ago in this sub asking why yoga made me feel sad & shitty once it's over. A lot of you said yoga heals you and wrings you and that's why you feel this way. Does it help with inner child healing too. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jan 2021 05:22 AM PST Hi I know there's lots of posts about yoga mats but this is my dilemma. I'm wanting to upgrade my basic £10 (I'm UK based) exercise mat for a decent but not too pricey rubber one. I noticed in a post or two after searching some may contain latex which I am allergic to and hadn't thought of. I wondered which mats out there do/don't use latex. My budget is around £70, I've looked at B yoga (but can't find it in stock anywhere?) jade harmony and Manduka pro lite. Any other none latex recommendations would also be appreciated!
