Thank you r/flexibility for letting me discover my mistake

All my life I thought I was pretty inflexible, was always that guy who couldn't even touch his toes in Phys Ed class. About six months back, I decided I wanted to change that, so I decided everyday while showering, I try to stretch a little to try and touch my toes. It made some decent progress, I can reach halfway between my knees and ankles (initially I could only reach my knees thereabout).

I chanced upon this forum last night, and followed the beginner thread (the pinned thread), and saw the toe-touching challenge and was like how could people possibly do this in 30-days?! So I followed the links and watch (https://www.functionalmovement.com/articles/Podcasts/2015-03-09_why_i_do_the_toe_touch_progression_on_stage) this video first, planning to watch the rest to understand the strategy.

Listening to the video, I started to think that it made sense, and I could emulate it (without the equipment), I paused the video halfway, and stood up and tried it, ... and managed to put my entire palm onto the floor. Now I feel very ecstatic that I manage to achieve a goal of mine, and yet very foolish for not understanding basic physics.

What would be recommended to get my splits flat? My hips feel pretty squared but looking at my videos it doesn’t look quite squared. Hamstrings are a bit tight too

Suddenly lost a lot of flexibility in my right hamstring

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 03:28 PM PST

Today while doing my daily stretches I noticed that I couldn't do a front straddle split on my right leg as well as i usually do.

I would say I usually get to about 90% of the full split (my left leg is my better leg) but this time I could barely stay in position and it was more painful than usual. My hamstring felt very tight while stretching, and I have no idea why, as it seemingly happened overnight.

I haven't changed my workout routine nor have I been overstretching my muscles.

I don't know what's wrong with it. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

The key to preventing backache is to strengthen the core, loosen up the back muscles and release tension in the muscles of your upper and lower back. Try this 10 minutes morning yoga for back.
