    Yoga Teacher Certification Recommendations

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 07:56 PM PDT

I am looking at some courses offered by local studios, but want to know if anyone has some online ones to recommend. Preferably faster paced courses since I work from home and have A LOT of free time.

    Childs Pose Causing Pain

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:22 PM PDT

I am relatively new to practicing yoga and have noticed that sometimes after childs pose I feel a really sharp pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades when I release the pose. I don't feel this pain while I am holding the pose though.

The longer I hold the pose the more likely I am to feel it upon release. I haven't noticed the pain in or after any other pose.

It will sometimes worsen when I take a deep breath or round my back to try and stretch that feeling out.

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if this is something I will need to keep practicing and be gentle with but I love and child pose and am sad that it is causing pain!

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

    Yoga that’s migraine friendly

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 06:00 AM PDT

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to yoga and was doing it more consistently at the beginning of the year. I found that it was helping me to not get tension headaches but would sometimes make other headaches worse. I love how I feel mentally when I consistently do yoga and want to be able to practice it more. Anyone have any tips for migraine sufferers who do yoga? Any poses that are good or to avoid, any flows or videos your recommend.

    Yoga for back pain?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 02:08 AM PDT

Just looking for some ideas for poses for my sore back.

I'm in massage therapy school and between giving massages and receiving them my back is feeling pretty sore. It's mostly good, I've had a lot of tension get released, but it's almost like when the bad side felt better the "good" side was like "MY TURN PAY ATTENTION TO ME NOW" and I've been dealing with it feeling bruised all day.

I prefer restorative yoga but I'm willing to try other types.

Info on the pain if you want it: it's a large section of mod to lower trapezius that follows the line of my scapula down, goes over the ribs, and stops at the spine.

It is mostly an achey bruised feeling and is somewhat tender to the touch.

    Backbends - Why So Hard?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 10:13 PM PDT

I legitimately cannot even begin to lift myself for a backbend. It is like as soon as I put my hands down behind my shoulders, I just lose all strength and capability. Additionally, I'm scared to put any pressure onto my head neck at this angle. Any tips on exercises or strength training (yoga or otherwise, I have a yoga wheel also) that I can do to help improve my ability here? It's so embarassing lying there like a lump while others are lifted either a few inches or completely into their bends. Thanks!

Why do I experience pain in my knee after yoga practice?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:38 AM PDT

Hello there. I have been going to ishvara yoga classes for two months now, and I am more than happy with the results. The major difference between ishvara yoga and other types of yoga is that you keep your legs a little bent while you stretch your back. At least, that is how I have been taught before at other classes.

After two months I started experiencing very odd feeling in my right knee: it makes kind of a loud knock when I straighten my leg, it feels like some bone or ligament is coming into place after meeting some other bone. Also I've started having pain in this knee when I rest (i.g. lay in the bed or sit). This pain is not in the front side, but in the back of a knee area.

It is also worth mentioning that I had my ankle ligament heavily torn two months ago, and I recovered slowly from that, I still have a problem with flexibility in that joint. May this somehow affect the knee?

    Question from a newbie.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 02:12 AM PDT

I started practicing yoga a couple of weeks ago and I loved the peace and inner strength I found I got for it. All of a sudden iv started to get really emotional on (and off) the mat. I did some research and it seems this is a normal thing but I'm wondering how long it will last? I am going through a rough patch but dang it, I want to go back to the feelings I had in the beginning. Its what 'centered.' me and now I'm feeling a bit risk averse
