Flexibility: Recovering from a torn muscle.

    Recovering from a torn muscle.

A little over a month ago I (25M 6'2) tore my Hamstrings, it has recovered to the point where I can run and walk with no pain, but my flexibility is near zero at the moment, I used to be able to place my palms flat on the ground when bending at the hips, but my hands can only reach mid shin at the moment.

My physio appointments have gotten me back to this point, and they're happy with it, but I'm annoyed at the loss of flexibility, is this something I just need to give a bit more time, or are there things I can do to help it along? Any assistance is appreciated.

Will doing splits help align your hips?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 10:57 AM PDT

Don't know if this is the right group to post this but long story short, I have a herniated disc in my lower back L5 S1 due to my hips being uneven. I tried all types of poses and nothing seems to help. Now I'm trying to learn on how to do splits hoping it will help. Any thoughts?

    Open front splits

    Posted: 22 May 2021 07:20 PM PDT

Often on this sub, people seem to be lower in their front splits when their back foot is turned out- the challenge comes from squaring your hips and getting more of a stretch on your hip flexors. I'm having the opposite problem!

Through all of my stretching, I've been super diligent about keeping my hips square and making sure that the top of my back foot is facing the ground. I'm very close to the ground (maybe a couple of inches left), but I also would like to be able to do them with my back leg turned out and I'm nowhere near as close for some reason. It seems really awkward and even detrimental to try to train the open alignment specifically, so I'm just wondering how many people just naturally get lower in their splits by turning their back leg out, and if there's anything specific I can do to improve my open splits (maybe working on my middle splits?) without doing anything damaging
