Posted: 30 Apr 2021 08:56 AM PDT I was an addict for more years of my life than I was sober. I used opiates to deal with the mental pain of life. I'm not going to write a sob story, but my life growing up wasn't sunshine and roses as I'm sure is the same for most people who are addicted. I was getting so far gone and pushing the pain I had gone through in life so far down and not dealing with it, that it was rotting inside of me. It was starting to make me legitimately crazy. I cared some, but not much, and not enough to get off drugs. I had tried before just to stop, but I didn't realize how much work was going to be involved, what I was in for, or where to begin. It took me three years of trying different methods like methadone, rehab, suboxone, meditation and therapy to finally get to the starting line of what I thought was the path to sobriety. While going through all of this it was like I was marching up a snowy mountain with a backpack on. I was tightly holding my shoulder straps, trudging through the snow uphill one step at a time. After a couple of months I would lift my head up to see I was still in the exact same place. So again, I put my head down and trudged on. For over a year it seemed like I was in the same place every time I looked up. I had learned a lot though while walking. I truly learned the meaning of patience and calmness and finally understood this is a marathon not a sprint. I learned that hope was the only thing I had in the most desperate times when I felt like just giving up and setting down in the snow, not to care anymore. In the mind of my mind, I was climbing a ladder or the steps of a pyramid. Every lesson was like an ascension of knowing who I was and what I had to do. Like going through the chakras to start at red over and over again, growing the whole time. One day things changed a little as I felt some tension release. I didn't realize I was over the crest, just knew it was starting to get easier and I felt myself descending down the other side. Still learning in the mind of my mind lessons to take with me. I learned it is okay to just be okay with yourself. That being ashamed and the fear and anxiety that came along with it weren't going to help me on my travels, so I had to shed that baggage to get where I wanted to be. People don't look at you and see what you think of yourself. They just see what is in front of them at that moment. So, if you're doing better, that is the picture you project. They don't know the challenges you're facing in your mind and body to just make it through the day. So again, my head down I keep trudging through the snow down the side of the mountain. One day I felt something completely different. I had accepted the snow and the mountain and without knowing where I was, I look up and there isn't any snow. I'm coming into a valley with a beautiful meadow, and I can shed some of my baggage knowing I'm in a better place. I still have my journey ahead but I'm feeling better about each step, still learning in the mind of my mind. I have this energy inside of me that wants to persevere. I want to be a good person and give off a good energy for others to realize anything is possible. Feeling light and free I walk to the edge of the meadow with my shoulders tall and straight from everything I've carried and learned to cope with. The mind of my mind gave way to me being myself and knowing who I was. I felt whole once more. As I make my way through the trees there is a beautiful little stream. I wash myself and stand up a clean person, free and ready to face the world as I had never known before. As I look around with my eyes clear, in that moment I realize, this is beautiful! Posted: 01 May 2021 01:24 AM PDT Hi all! We all know that it can be hard to start and maintain a regular sitting practice. So I wondered if anyone would care to join me in a daily meditation challenge for May 2021? u/WCBH86 set up a monthly meditation challenge for the last 2 years or so, and it's really seemed to strike a chord here and received lots of engagement and positive feedback over that time. It provided a lovely sense of community and lots of encouragement. I'd like to continue his efforts. So, here's the deal: You choose how much time you want to spend meditating each day, and what sort of meditation you're going to practice. But you commit to practicing every day for the month of May, and maybe check in on here with others who are doing the same. The idea is to have some group support/accountability, to help you stick to daily practice all month long. If it goes well, then we rinse and repeat for the month of June. I'll make a new post for that when the time comes. Post a comment below if you'd like to take part. And if you'd like an accountability partner to really help see you through your daily practice, post a comment below that says "accountability partner needed". Then wait for someone else to reply to your comment, and say "I'll be your partner". You can help keep each other in check throughout the month. For those who use Insight Timer, there is a group for this called Meditation Month. Feel free to join up and find some extra accountability there. For those who use it, there is also a discord server for this : https://discord.gg/meditationmind Good luck folks. Hope this helps some of you start a meditation habit and others get back into one. TLDR: Encouragement and support for people trying to make daily meditation stick! NOTE: I like to encourage everyone who wants to take part and who leaves a comment below by wishing them luck and other little things in response. But I don't reply to people who have asked for an accountability partner in their comment because I don't want them to get a little "new message" icon and get hopeful only to find it's me saying "good luck!", and also because I think people scanning comments to see if anyone needs a partner might more easily look past those that already have a reply, even if the reply is just from me and isn't actually an offer to be a partner. Just wanted to let those folks who don't get a reply from me know that it's nothing personal! I wish you luck too, and am pleased you're taking part! :) NOTE 2: Since starting these monthly challenges, the Insight Timer group has grown to 1000+ members, and the Discord even more than that! So join in and help make meditation a regular part of your life! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2021 10:52 PM PDT After years of trying to find a technique that resonates I finally found Rza's guided meditations on Spotify. The missing element was a Gangsta sensei! Does anyone know of any other guided meditations of a similar theme or message in them? [link] [comments] |

Is enlightenment realizing the illusion of our minds and this reality? Posted: 01 May 2021 02:18 AM PDT I have had ego death several years ago and I thought that was enlightenment however I didn't feel too different. But recently I've become much more aware of my mind and how it operates. Seeing how the mind creates one's reality. Being aware of both the thoughts and lack of thoughts in my mind. Posted: 01 May 2021 01:22 AM PDT 852 Hz awakens intuition because it is linked to the ability to see through the illusions of life, to the ability to see behind the veil. It raises awareness and allows you to return to the spiritual order. When it comes to cellular processes, the 852 Hz allows the cell to transform to a higher level. It develops our capacity for premonition and our spiritual sensitivity. It allows the soul to evolve and access Unconditional Love. Listening to this frequency restores the original positive feelings (understanding, generosity, selflessness, compassion, selflessness and truth) to bring the cell body to a higher level. Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:35 PM PDT I often feel like there's a paradox in the way mindfulness is presented. As I see it, mindfulness is presented as a tool intended to either reduce stress/anxiety or understand the mind better. When you intend to do one of these things, you make a judgement - that being more calm/having more understanding is better than the alternative. I don't think it's possible for us to never judge anything. We are creatures who always have some value system. Paying attention cannot be done without valuing what you're attending to over everything else, i.e. passing a judgement. So what exactly do we do when we go into these non-judgemental states? Do we relax this value assigning machine as much as we can? Is something else going on? [link] [comments] |

My old boss appears in my meditation every time, help! Posted: 30 Apr 2021 11:49 PM PDT Long story short, my old boss was the worst kind of person you could ever wish to meet. She was vile, and even though its been two years since I last seen her everytime I take that first breathe an imagine of her comes to my mind and with it all the negative emotions I feel about her. Its as if i've condition my self to do this now as a trigger. I don't know when it started but It's stopped me meditating and I know I really need it back in my life. Any advice would be appareciated. [link] [comments] |

Do I need to use my skills from meditation outside of my sessions? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 10:50 PM PDT Hi! Recently taken up meditation. I've read online to try to meditate 10-20 minutes a day at least, and I'm working up towards it. I find my sessions are calming and I've enjoyed the sessions themselves a bit more than I expected. I'm not sure if I'm seeing the benefits of meditation outside of my sessions yet though. I've only been meditating for a couple of weeks though. Is it just a matter of consistency, or is there something I should be doing explicitly outside of my sessions? Like, using the techniques of meditation throughout the day? I used to have a lot of anxiety due to my rumination. The anxiety has calmed down, so but I still ruminate. It's almost like, because there's no anxiety I'm more comfortable with the rumination since there's no immediate adverse consequence of it. Would love to hear some advice. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:00 PM PDT So lately I've been getting into meditation and using Theravada jhanas as a starting place - the first jhana I think is the same as mindfulness. During my meditation in the first jhana my vision changed to exclude red. Green stayed vibrant green except everything got much more blue, although the blue was weaker. It looked like the weather changed from sunny to cloudy. Pretty much the red was sucked mostly out of everything I saw. I had smoked before this but I went in and out of the first jhana several times and it was the same every time. In the second jhana I was experiencing pretty heavy visual hallucinations - way more than I've ever experienced on any psychedelic. Usually in a trip nothing is consistent - and especially with weed, so the consistent color change was a surprise. Does anyone have any idea what those colors could mean, or has this happened to anyone else? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Apr 2021 12:55 PM PDT I'll tell u my exact routine for meditation Obviously I also do visualisation meditations and a whole bunch of others, but these are the ones I use to become at peace with and present in nature etc And yeah I know technically the first 2 ain't so called meditation.....? But well they go into the whole routine so. Also from research you should do these in the order written ( from most physical / uses most energy to least.. I spent ages researching every single type of meditation Expecting a magic one or a secret routine lol What meditation is most affective What's the best What do Buddhists use Best for this best for that lol So here's my meditation routine I came up with along my research Wait 2 hours after eating if ate 🟢 Breath of fire Breath only through nose while doing this Take a deep breath Exhale hard or like your breathing out using ur abs muscles. Think of panting like a dog but with ur nose? Easier to look it up on YouTube 🟢 Wim Hof breath Literally just breathing in through nose and out with mouth with diaphragm When you breath out though it's just a let go not breathing out slow. Just exhale it all naturally 🟢 Nadi Shodhana aka Nose Breaths ( In 3 sec, hold 3 exhale 3 ) ILL EXPLAIN BELOW how to do this 🟢 Meditation ( I do all of these in the same session so one after the other ) Shambhavi Mudra (( Look up and Roll eyes naturally up to ur middle eyebrow )) Use any hand Mudra Ground ( visualise roots growing out of u into earth Anapana ( literally breath through your nose and observe or just feel the breath on nose when you breath out..... DONT BREATH MANUALLY LOL. just make sure your belly breathing aka diaphragm breathing but do it automatically ) Vipassana ( literally Body scan BOOM MY SECRETS Explanation of the nose breaths 3 sec Basically block ur right nostril Breath in left nostril for 3 secs Hold breath for 3 secs Breath out through right nostril 3 secs Block right Breath In through LEFT again 3 secs And u do this 3 times so like 3 breaths in make sense?? THEN u do it opposite side Then after that 3x You Basically block ur right nostril Breath in left nostril for 3 secs Hold breath for 3 secs Breath out through right nostril 3 secs THIS TIME BREATH IN THROGHH THE ONE U JUST BREATH OUT OF SO THE RIGHT Then exhale through left and then breath in with left I spent ages researching every single type of meditation Expecting a magic one or a secret routine lol What meditation is most affective What's the best What do Buddhists use Best for this best for that lol So here's my meditation routine I came up with along my research [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Apr 2021 08:00 AM PDT Hello beautiful souls, I have been wondering how deep you can actually go with meditation for quite a while now. Can anybody tell me when and how I will actually reach the core of my soul. I have been meditating for 4 months everyday twice a day. I have been noticing my connection with the present getting stronger by the day, but i wonder if there is more to it that I'm not realizing. Does anyone have any tips for me so i can proceed my journey of peace with more knowledge. Have a wonderful day I love you 🪐✨ [link] [comments] |
