I haven't done yoga for the best part of a year, i've just done 7 days in a row Posted: 13 Jun 2021 11:08 AM PDT I'm so proud of myself. I used to practise Ashtanga and felt I hadn't done yoga if i wasn't exhausted and sweating. I felt burnt out and defeated. This week i committed and did 7 days of loving yin and gentle movement. I forgot it could be like this. I'm so proud of myself. [link] [comments] |
Did yoga for the first time in like a year and I forgot how calming it was. Posted: 13 Jun 2021 05:09 AM PDT For the past year I lived in quite a chaotic house where I never got the downtime or a calmness conducive to yoga, so I was kind of forced to just not have it as a part of my day. Recently I moved into my own apartment and was excited to finally be able to get back into it, which was long overdue. Last night I did 30 minutes directed at dealing with my lower back pain that's been unbearable recently. I felt amazing afterwards. When I was done, I got up and laid in my bed for like an hour with my eyes closed, letting my mind wander into a bunch of different directions. Then I drifted off to sleep and woke up feeling a calmness I haven't felt in god-knows-how-long. Also my back feels great too. My thoughts aren't racing for once. I can focus. I feel clarity and my mind isn't so foggy like it usually is. I missed this. Today I am unshakeable. Today is a good day. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Jun 2021 04:38 PM PDT I've spent the past three days looking at apartments in the city I'm moving to. Reading reviews. Driving through neighborhoods to get the feel for each. I finally found the apartment I want to rent and only then did I think to see how far the nearest yoga studios are. I was thrilled to find out there is one 0.4 miles from me with 4.9 stars with 55 reviews. I'm SO excited to resume my yoga practice! [link] [comments] |

Did Yoga Nidra with the Down Dog app Posted: 13 Jun 2021 07:18 AM PDT I was experiencing anxiety for a week and tried the usual practices and other stress busters then I came across yoga nidra and thought that I would give it a try even though I really have a hard time meditating (I tried headspace before and it didn't work for me). Surprisingly, it felt so refreshing and I feel like i've taken this anti-anxiety pill. My heart stopped racing and my chest is no longer tight 🙏🏽 [link] [comments] |

What type of yoga is good for a pulled back muscle? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 06:59 PM PDT Recently pulled a lower back muscle and don't want to lose momentum after really getting into a routine and starting to gain more flexibility and strength. Going on a week of the strain and not being able to practice–what's good/not good when you have an injury? Should I rest completely or are there some poses/stretches I can do to help heal? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 09:10 PM PDT I do my yoga practices after 1 or 2 am because of insomnia and I feel way more flexible and calm when I practice yoga at those hours. Is this normal? I kinda feel hypomanic due to lack of sleep but yoga evens me out and makes me feel like I have just woke up from my sleep. I do sleep in the mornings though but I could never find motivation to do yoga during the day. Is this normal? [link] [comments] |
Recommendations on a retreat in US? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 05:24 PM PDT I'm looking for 3-4 weekday yoga retreat anywhere in US. This will be my first yoga retreat so my expectations are minimal...I just want to get away and try something new. Have you had an amazing experience somewhere? A cute place that might not be on top google search? [link] [comments] |
Need Help with Yoga - Around San Diego-CA Posted: 13 Jun 2021 08:52 PM PDT Hello All, I am interested in learning yoga but I am not able to afford Yoga classes since they are expinsive and I am not financially able to at this moment. I was wondering if anyone knows a good group of people who do yoga so I can meet up with them and do yoga and learn from them? I learn a bit slower than the average person and usually, I can do more when I do with others. do home alone yoga usually does not work out very well for me. Please advise Thanks [link] [comments] |
My back only starts bending from around 5-6 vertebrae up Posted: 13 Jun 2021 03:34 AM PDT |
Posted: 13 Jun 2021 05:44 PM PDT Hi there fellow yogis! I started yoga in February and it has been amazing for my health. However, in late April both of my shoulders started to ache and so I gave myself a few days off to recover, which seemed to help for a short while and I've been in the same routine of break, better, then pain when I get back in the groove. Both of my shoulders hurt with movement, generally no pain when I'm stationary. Any advice is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

How do you interpret the yama brahmacharya? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 12:28 PM PDT As per the title, How do you interpret the yama brahmacharya? I'm curious how others practice it, it's one I'm struggling to vibe with! [link] [comments] |

Suggestions for videos that SHOW lots of modifications? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 09:31 AM PDT Does anybody have some suggestions for videos of beginner (maybe even sub-beginner) routines that SHOW lots of modifications. I'm kind of over the advice of "just go as far as you can", that may work when you can get 60% of the way there, but when I can't even get 20% of the way there, it's not that helpful. I also don't find it particularly helpful when they just say "do this if you can't get there", but don't bother to demonstrate. So what I'm asking is if there's any beginner videos that actually demonstrate regression rather than just voicing over or going with "do what you can"... [link] [comments] |
What foams are yoga mats made of? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 02:59 PM PDT Hey does anyone know which kinds of closed cell foams that some yoga mats are made of? I'm trying to figure out what material to use for a dual purpose yoga mat + pad for my raised shikibuton, and I'm going to have to get it custom cut at a chemical company somewhere because I need a weird size. Thanks to anyone who knows! Alternatively, if anyone knows where I can get a cheapo closed cell foam yoga mat in 38" x 75" 1/4in thickness or larger to cut down that would work too. It seems like the biggest ones I can find are 36" wide. [link] [comments] |

Have you attended a yoga class in another language? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 06:39 AM PDT I just moved to Quebec and would like to attend yoga classes but am afraid of the language barrier. I tried to search up 'english yoga classes' but I dont think they exist here haha. Has anyone else had experience attending a yoga class in a foreign language? [link] [comments] |
