Is it important to hold posture during meditation? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 11:45 PM PDT Because I am trying to relax, I always fall back in my bad posture. With my head forward and my neck bend. Then I worry about how to fix my posture during medidation😂 [link] [comments]
Can anyone provide shadow work resources they found helpful? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:41 PM PDT I feel like I keep seeing shadow work stuff but no one talks about what specifically this means or how to do it specifically. I've been meditating for about a year or so.. idk if this means I'm ready or not but I think so [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:27 AM PDT I have been practicing meditation for 6 minutes 3 times a day for 8 months now. My brain waves completely changed. Whenever I am engaged into an activity such as drawing, my brain automatically enters into the zone or flow without effort from my part. I become fully present in the activity nothing else matters. This is one of the wonderful gift from practicing meditation to become intense focused at the task at hand. I wish I knew this while I was still in high school, I should have acquired many skills. It is never late to learn a new skill. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:14 AM PDT Good morning! I've been meditating for around a year. Usually a ten minute guided meditation. I was doing the 'Waking Up' App for 6 months but really struggled with the concept of where the seat of attention was. I wasn't sure if he was trying to lead me to answer the question myself so in the end I just thought I was try to work out a riddle rather than relaxing. I also did the beginner courses on the 'Mindfulness' App which I really enjoyed. I do tend to enjoy something with a bit of a structure but recently I've been just going to random things on youtube/insight timer depending on my mood but my attention span seems to be shorter when I do this. I am on a journey of self discovery after battling addictions and depression for the last 20 years, I feel meditation is key to my recovery. Ultimately I'm here looking for recommendations but I'm not 100% what I need! I liked the idea of 'Waking Up' but found it a little confusing. Are there any similar courses people have done that has helped? [link] [comments]

Gary Weber - elimination of all default mode network thoughts Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:48 PM PDT The goal of no thoughts (self referential thoughts, not tasking thoughts) is sometimes debated in meditation circles. Gary Weber is the only person I have come across who has come closest to achieving this. Others may include Ramana Maharshi or Robert Adams. Gary conservatively states that he has removed >95% of these thoughts from his life, and experienced a secondary shift when this transition occurred. Here is a link to his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/gudakesha7, and a starter video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX1IFUDNtto&pp=sAQA. I would also recommend some of his books: Happiness Beyond Thought and Evolving Beyond Thought. He is an advocate for self-inquiry type meditation. E.g. "Who am I?", "What am I?", "Where am I?". I find "Where am I?" to be the most powerful, as "Who" pre-supposes a who and "What" presupposes a something. "Where" on the other hand leads to a search which fails to find anything and an opening up of space in awareness. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:16 PM PDT Hello, so I'm new to this, for years I debated on trying meditation, a few times I tried it for a few minutes and gave up but now I'm serious about it, I feel like it'll help me out a lot The issue however is my mind, ost of the time my mind is completely blank unless you stimulate it with a book, a joke, a question, etc, something to make me think But when I actually TRY to make it blank for meditation, I can't, I tried to do the method I use for falling asleep, which is to imagine pitch black darkness with nothing else, no thoughts, words, nada but it doesn't help I also used a heart rate thingy, that you put on your finger to see if it helped me get closer to a meditative state at all but it stayed at my normal resting heart rate of 78 BPM, so I wasn't even near the relaxed or peaceful state of meditation [link] [comments]
Meditating and visualisation in third person Posted: 01 Aug 2021 11:37 PM PDT Hi all, I find that naturally i have a habit of when visualising during meditations to do so in the third person. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Aug 2021 02:35 PM PDT Don't get me wrong, this is a serious question: Just my experience as an example: While I would love to meditate more regularly, I really enjoy meditating for 15-20min very much and I can absolutely say it improves my quality of being. But in other cases, just sitting there for 15min (worst case: waiting on something) sounds like an awfully boring thing to do. How come that if you sit yourself down, watch your breath and try to observe your 'self', this isn't the case? Why isn't meditation boring? On the contrary: I experience tingling shivers at the top of my head and on my neck in about half my sessions, which I would describe even as a short state of being 'high' and that leave me with a great feeling after the session. Bonus question: Does anybody know what happens to your mind and body in this 'high'? Thank you, and I wish you a good life [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:59 PM PDT I can feel my blood circulation all over my body whenever I sit still for meditation. Sometimes my body even starts swaying with it. Is this normal? How do I deal with it? [link] [comments]
Can You Meditate In Shavasana For Hours? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:28 PM PDT I discovered a new position which looks appealing to me because sometimes I honestly don't even want to get out bed, set up my computer (I use youtube for meditating) and the whole bit. I know it sounds lazy but somedays it's a struggle for me. I'm so bored sometimes and my mind starts racing and I get exhausted really quickly when I'm up and about. So I was thinking meditation could be the best way to avoid this restless mind I have and if I could somedays when there's nothing to do I could just do this to try and turn out my thoughts or the ones that cause me distress anyways by doing this for hours on end. Only worry is, if I fall asleep... does this take away the benefits I'd achieved from meditating before I drift off? Shavasana is a position that is used in meditating so I'm thinking this must be acceptable. Also can a pillow be used in this position? I see in the pictures almost noone is using a pillow... they are just flat out. I'd kind of prefer atleast a little bit of a pillow to prop my neck up. I just think it would be more comfortable. Cool thing I noticed whenever I begin my meditation Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:28 PM PDT A lot of times when I begin my meditation practice within seconds I usually remember something which I forgot. For example if I meditate after waking I can often recall details of my dream which I completely forgot about and it feels great to relive them. Or if I meditate thoughts like "don't forget to take your multivitamin after eating dinner later on" pop up, quite helpful. I love meditating! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:31 PM PDT This might seem weird but I've noticed it more than once. I was going through a tough time couple of months ago and restarted my meditation journey. I meditated for almost two months and then my schedule got so messed up that I couldn't find time to spend even 20 minutes meditating so I left the practice. Now, it's almost been two months since I've given up my practice and now when I started again, I started feeling this overwhelming feeling all of a sudden where I just want to cry my eyes out. There hasn't been any specific trigger, in fact, things have been going pretty well but still I feel so burdened again as if everything is attacking all at once. This exact thing happened the last time but as I progressed, it went away in a week. Any thoughts on why this happens and if this happens to others too? Thanks. [link] [comments]

is it possible to remove some beliefs that were programmed into you through meditation? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:54 PM PDT i was programemd to like a culture that i never liked, and its full of unethical stuff. i adopted a new culture and nation but cant fully erase the first one from my mind, is it possible to do this through meditation? like some kind of special meditation that includes mantras and visualization? if so i hope you leave me details or links to guided meditations (they work better for me)! thanks! How to reach meditative bliss? Feeling depressed. Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:08 AM PDT 22M here. I am suffering from anxiety, depression and OCD becaue I've realized the past year I'm pretty much a loser in life. My crush has rejected me because of my cringe behavior, a lot of friends betrayed me, people are gossipping me & making fun of me, I am a jobless high school drop out. I am also fucking myself up with drugs of all kind weed, xanax, coke, molly, speed, alcohol, everything the whole summer. I never had a girlfriend and even though people consider me attractive, I rarely ask girls out. I don't even know so much girls and I'm starting to believe I'm unlovable. I wake up depressed each morning and go to sleep depressed every night. I feel like the pain is unbearable. I was taking SSRIs but they didn't work so I'll probably switch the meds. I am feeling a little bit better today because I took 3.5g of shrooms yesterday and I'm feeling the afterglow which will fade in a few days. I started learning about meditation about 6 7 months ago but I am having trouble with practicing consistently. I've heard a lot of people say they reached a temporary state of bliss when practicing long enough. How much practice does it really take to reach these states? I want to get better mentally because I am at rock bottom and can't use drugs as a coping mechanism forever. I'm not even sure if meditation actually works with mental health issues or is it just a waste of time. I still enjoy doing it sometimes though to calm myself. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:24 PM PDT "Psychonauts" are naturally interested in exploring different methods of altering the mind, and perhaps that is good enough reason alone to do it. But if it's not just sensation seeking, and you want genuine "insight" into the nature of reality or experience, then what can we make of the fact these methods are so different? What insights into the nature of the mind are unique to meditation? Compared to psychedelics, hypnosis, lucid dreaming, etc. I'd love to hear some thoughts or would appreciate articles/books about the relationship between them too :) [link] [comments]
Can meditating help with get over my first crush? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:20 PM PDT I am a 19 year old male and I've met my first crush two years and a half ago. Long story short, I told her about my feelings, she rejected me, but stayed best friends. We do everything together. We study together in the same field, have sleepovers, go on vacation...and I just can't get over her. I get extremely jealous over the smallest things and she even became physically distant, because she knows I'm not over her. It's been more than two years at this point and I still don't see an end in sight. It just became normal for me. She is the first girl I have ever fallen in love with, maybe that's why it's so hard for me. I've also never dated before, but maybe if I catch feelings for another person, I could get over my best friend, but I'm really not sure. And that's why I'm posting this here. I know there are no guarantees, but can meditation help with these kinds of things. I feel like being more mindful and temporarily killing my ego could help me understand my feelings better. I have taken shrooms before, so I know the feeling, I've just never tried meditating before. Either way, I know it can't hurt to try something new. [link] [comments]
Please Help, I can't feel my nose during meditation Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:13 PM PDT I was taught to meditate on the feeling of air going in and out of my nose. The problem is I can only feel this sensation periodically, and when I do it is very faint. I'm worried I damaged my nose somehow. I am a smoker/vaper, and I also use nasal spray. For now I am going to try to meditate on my belly, but I miss using the nose. [link] [comments] |
