[COMP] Doing the pants off challenge while in headstand

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 02:56 AM PDT

[COMP] Hi, everyone! I joined reddit a few months ago, rather inactive here, but I just realised I could interact with the Yoga community on here, and now I’m so excited to be part of it. Here’s an alien wheel with good wishes for you! ♥️

[COMP] I did a yoga pose starting with each letter of the alphabet and put them together in a compilation. I took a lot of liberties with the names of poses - it was just for fun, not for accuracy!

My down dog is just so, so bad...

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 05:41 PM PDT

I'm a brand new yogi, I have been practicing every single day for 30 days as of today (even when I was really hungover one day!) I rewarded myself with a Jade Harmony mat to replace my TJ Maxx one. Still using books as blocks though...

I am hyper focused on alignment and posture because I have a mild scoliosis (4 degree curve, practically nothing core work can't fix). I can sit cross legged with a straight back now, no book, never could before. But my dog down is so bad. Terrible.

I know it's a work in progress. I am working the full body, every day and it feels so great, but every time I peak at myself in the mirror during down dog I get pretty discouraged. Very discouraged, actually. All my other poses seem to be getting better except this one! I can even do pigeon correctly. Like, actually correctly. Square hips, active foot, heart open. I don't understand. (I know different muscles are being used, I just know pigeon is a strong pose)

I just hope it gets better. I really want to go to a studio someday, but I don't want to be embarrassed at how bad I am at what is a resting position for most yogis. :(

Having trouble linking breath and movement

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 02:23 PM PDT

Hey all, I am a beginner in yoga (started at the same time as quarantine) and I'm following different sessions on Do you yoga. So far I absolutely love it!

I know that breath is crucial but I find it hard to link breath with movement, especially because the teachers often talk in between breath cues (like 'align this' or 'twist the ankle' or 'here's why you should flex your feet'). Any advice?

Headstands hurt my head? I gotta be doing this wrong.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 06:56 PM PDT

I found this awesome instagram video to learn headstands. During the first drill, I can get my hips above my head but after two or three of them the top of my head hurts. Am I doing this wrong or does this go away the more you practice?

Corporate dad of 2 beginning YTT (Online Based for now) on 4/30.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 06:28 AM PDT

I've been practicing multiple styles for about 12 years and decided to take the plunge into a YTT program. Luckily, this is a program ran by folks I love and have been closely connected with over the past ten years. My wife has been encouraging me for sometime to take on a YTT program and while I never imagined committing to something like this under these current societal circumstances, I'm doing it. Wish me luck and hopefully I can lean on this community along the way.

Lookin for a short beginner routine to help with rehabbing my shoulders and knees.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 06:06 PM PDT

I'm an inflexible beginner and want to start doing yoga to help the above problem areas. I spoke to a physio therapist and she says it's ok to do yoga as long as it's not heavy weight bearing on my shoulders (no downward dog). Anyone have a full body routine that can help rehab these areas?

Recommendations for men's TALL yoga pants, similar to Prana Vaha

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:49 PM PDT

Hello friends. I'm a tall man, 6'6" and 210 lbs. I wear a 36x36 pant. I'm looking for a comfortable yoga pant that will fit me, similar to either the Prana Vaha or Mojo II. I have similar Prana shorts and love them, but unfortunately the pants don't come in a 36" inseam. Any recommendations from tall yogis? Thanks!

    Composing your own Yoga Sequence

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 04:07 PM PDT

For more than a year now I have been doing Yoga irregularly following Youtube videos online. I have to say that I did not find any Yoga sequence that I fully enjoyed because it mostly lacked one or the other pose, or because of its quality or because the person talked too much. I want to get away from technology and decided to compose my own Yoga sequence. But Im not sure where to begin. Is there something I have to take into mind? Do you know any website or book that could be of help?

Yoga teachers of Reddit, who inspires you and which teachers do you personally regard and look up to as innovators of the practice?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 11:55 AM PDT

I'm particularly interested in hearing about teachers who draw inspiration from different movement traditions – e.g. Ido Portal, calisthenics, Pilates, etc.

Disclaimer: I know this question won't be to everyone's tastes – I enjoy quite a physical practice; please don't downvote this post just because you favour an approach which gives more weight to the non-asana limbs of yoga. In this particular thread, I want to facilitate a discussion of the asana side of things :)

    Thanks!

Will you be returning to your heated classes once the studios reopen?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:58 AM PDT

Why can't I do the pose where the weight is all placed on the wrists? Are my wrists weak? Bakasana? Yall know what im talking about its the main thing people post here. I just held 2 7 minute planks in my local neighborhood park. Man I love grass resting on my face btw

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 06:17 PM PDT

I was on cannabinoids then felt angry at covid 19 for destroying what human interactions I was having and developing. Especially in my yoga class. So, I played vengeance by zack hemsey and boy that song is long approximately 7 minutes. I walked around my track then did plank on grass then did a few laps and did another 7 minute plank. The interesting thing is I been fat and lazy for weeks now with no exercise. Then BAM hold a 7 min plank 😂😂 Tell me, motivate me here, am I ready for bakasana?
