Things I still can't do (that are included in Tim's challenge): Crow pose Chaturanga pushups Stepping from down dog to lunge

Regardless, I have had a wonderful time and can't wait to start a new challenge tomorrow morning! I would highly recommend this challenge to anyone though

    Easy yoga for gamers/officeworkers/chair warmers

    Posted: 17 May 2020 04:18 PM PDT

If you've got bad posture, hunched shoulders, and other bad habits, then this is for you! I'm not trying to make you break a sweat and out of breath (although if you do sweat, it's awesome!). I would like to encourage you to simply get your butt out of your chair and come join me for some easy movements!

I've been doing a short 20 minute routine for our guild for several week now, but I thought I'd share this with the rest of everyone else who is interested in yoga but don't know where to start or feel intimidated to start. I am not a pro at all, but a work in progress. Still very inflexible and could use major improvements in every aspect of yoga. I sometimes see all the accomplished yogis out there and feel like there's such a huge gap between where I am and where they are. Well, I am not as "picture perfect" but I don't care, I like the practice and I like feeling the improvements when they do come. If you want someone imperfect to do yoga with, I'm here for you!

    30th day doing yoga!

    Posted: 17 May 2020 08:54 PM PDT

Started Adrienne's 30 day yoga challenge 30 days ago!! I've fallen head over heels for the practice. I wanted some advice: HOW did you start doing yoga alone without someone teaching/guiding? I feel like I get so side tracked without someone telling me what to do :/

Shaking in legs when doing yoga.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 05:12 PM PDT

I'm new to yoga. Lately, I've been doing it more to help my anxiety and PMS symptoms. Today, and a couple of times this past week, I've been to focusing on lower back pain exercises. In some lying down poses, when I lift my legs, they shake. I breathe through the poses and don't focus on pushing myself. Yet, the shaking increases my anxiety. I can tell, I need to build these muscles in my legs, and I'm hoping yoga will help the weakness. Any tips for a first timer?

Need help progressing mentally with yoga

    Posted: 17 May 2020 07:57 PM PDT

I've been virtually self-taught since I started yoga about twice a week while quarantined a few months back. I enjoy it and feel that I am improving my flexibility, but I don't feel my mind is there. It feels like I'm missing the point.

I'm focused on following the movements in whatever video I'm watching. I have truly no idea what I'm supposed to think about mentally.

I want to relax, connect with myself and the earth. Maybe stopping the videos and trying my own flow?

    What do I think about?

how to progress my yoga skills from beginner to more intermediate/difficult stuff

    Posted: 17 May 2020 03:11 PM PDT

Hello my fellow yogis - namaste (idk???)

I'm currently doing Yoga to help me destress and relax, but I know it can be used to improve balance + strength. What video content can I use to move myself from more beginners stuff to the advanced stuff, like balancing, core strength, backbends?

    Thanks!

New study confirms that paced breathing can reduce pain. Pain relief benefits were especially strong when breathing was slow, and when exhalation was longer than inhalation.

How to keep knee from “Bowing” out in lizards pose?

    Posted: 17 May 2020 06:02 PM PDT

Pretty much as the title says. Every time I practice lizards pose, my knees bow out whenever I drop my elbows low, even at a raise position, it bows.

I'm mindful of my movements, maybe I'm not actively engaging in the right body parts? Unsure :(

    Any advice is appreciated

    Tripod headstand to crow transition

    Posted: 17 May 2020 12:07 PM PDT

I'm trying to practice transitioning from crow to tripod headstand and back to crow but having a lot of trouble lifting my head up from headstand to get back into crow. I'm pushing my toes together and focusing on strong legs and abs with my knees at my armpits but my head just won't lift up. Any tips or block modifications that would help?

"How can I let go of my ego? How will I then navigate life?" You are that which is beyond ego. You are effortlessly, ever-presently that pure consciousness.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 03:22 PM PDT

still have trouble with the concept of completely let go of my mind and my old self

That which is having trouble "letting go" is itself merely a coming and going thought, the one having trouble is itself a thought. How can thought let go of thought? You must simply see this. There is something before "I am having trouble", there is something ever-present, it is not clouded by thought, it is there to perceive thought. You don't need to "let go" of anything, but simply remain aware of the awareness that is ever-present.

If I shall not think about neither the past or the future, how am I suppose to navigate in this illusion?

You must understand thinking is not helping navigate anything at all, actually it is the opposite, it is only because of you trying to think about the past or future, that you have forgot what you truly are. You are not supposed to navigate an illusion, you simply wake up to the truth, and in the light of the truth there is no need to navigate anything, you simply are and everything automatically works. You simply remain aware of being aware.

I am in fact a part of this illusion at the present moment.

No, you are not part of the illusion. That is merely a thought pretending to be you. It is saying "I am a part of an illusion" but that is literally just a thought appearing in that which is true, in you. You are that vast consciousness in which all thoughts, emotions and sensations appear. You CAN'T be anything other than the pure truth itself. You literally are choicelessly the truth. Nothing can ever make you not true, but that which is true can believe the mind when the mind says "I am a part of this illusion", it is not true even if you say it is, it is literally just a thought. No meaning, no substance at all.

. If I completely dissociate from this illusion how can I be a part of it?

You don't dissociate from this illusion, you simply see that the one who needs to dissociate is ITSELF an illusion, appearing in that which is true. There is no one that needs to dissociate, there is no need to be a part of an illusion. You simply remain as the truth that you are. That ever-present awareness, that is there unconditionally whether there are thoughts, emotions or sensations appearing.

It is so absolutely clear that you are not ANYTHING APPEARING IN CONSCIOUSNESS, you are that consciousness itself, you literally can't not be consciousness. The mind will say "I am not consciousness" and that itself is just a thought appearing IN that consciousness that you truly are.

f we all drops this old self of ours and tune in to pure consciousness (which in the end is all it is) how could we even have conversations?

Buddha, Christ, Mooji, Eckhart Tolle, Osho, they all are able to have conversations, and actually all conversations become beautiful and of a higher, truer consciousness, instead of silly, foolish egoic-talk.

his world we are living in right now exists because of separation and if everything merged into pure consciousness it would not be anymore?

Don't believe all these nonsense speculations of the mind. It is not true. None of what the mind wants you to believe is true about pure consciousness, is true.

Mind literally can't ever know ANYTHING about the consciousness in which itself appears. You are that consciousness. Don't trust the mind to tell you how it is to be consciousness. It can't know. Stop taking its advice, it literally is a function appearing within that consciousness that you are, it can't know anything about you. The mind appears in time, you are timeless presence. You are the timeless that perceives time itself. You are eternal. You are pure consciousness, whether you'd like it or not. Whether you identify with appearances within you, you are still that pure consciousness. Simply be aware of being aware.

    Headstand questions!

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:15 AM PDT

So I pulled off my first headstand in my life today as a tripod headstand. That's the good news. The bad news (I'm being hyperbolic) is that I have no earthly idea how to do the other headstand. The one where the hands go around the back of the head and legs are straight. Why is the latter variation so much harder? Any tips/pointers would be appreciated!
