Ashtanga yoga: Do you have any tips for half-bound lotus forward bend and baddha padmasana? |
| Do you have any tips for half-bound lotus forward bend and baddha padmasana? Posted: 02 Oct 2020 12:09 AM PDT I can do the normal seated lotus, but for some reason when I have to do the binds in this pose I can't. I thought my shoulders were quite open, since I can do the reverse prayer and gomukhasana hands and bind in the extended side angle, but this pose is so challenging for me. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 01 Oct 2020 05:55 AM PDT While I have a pranayama practice, I'd very much like to someday learn the pranayama taught by Pattabhi Jois to some of his students. I have noticed Sharath does nadi shodhana prior to utplutihi but am not familiar with what other pranayama he teaches. I haven't been to Mysuru, just took his led primary via Zoom. While my teacher learned up through advanced a and studied with Saraswathi, he never learned the Ashtanga Pranayama. He was only in Mysuru once and not for very long. He's not an authorized Ashtanga Instructor but he's a really good teacher imho. I've heard the student has to have completed intermediate series to begin learning pranayama. I have gotten through intermediate and am currently working through advanced a, which might be an indication I'm ready but don't want to assume that. There are Ashtanga teachers that learned all the series including the pranayama. I might attend an in person training from such a teacher once this covid situation gets under control. It seems like I'd have to learn this in person. Anyone have any personal experience they want to share that might be helpful or heard of how others managed to learn the pranayama?
