I realized how much I'm going to miss this body Posted: 18 Feb 2021 01:14 AM PST Today while meditating I wasn't really feeling it, because I was having all sorts of physical discomforts. It was distracting me from being mindful, I thought. Then I went into a short thought journey of realizing what it really means to be here in this body. With all its imperfections. I realized it is truly a feeling that only having a physical existence can give you. So I decided I shall enjoy it while it lasts. Then I brought my attention back to my body which didn't seem to feel so bad anymore. The power of meditation never fails to blow me away. [link] [comments]
The afterglow of meditation is everything Posted: 18 Feb 2021 01:46 AM PST I dont know what it is, but after meditating I feel a baseline of happiness that doesn't fade. The energy is unreal too. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Feb 2021 02:18 AM PST Hi, I have been meditating for a few months now. I am now able to suppress the ego and able to get to the almost zero state and see black or nothingness and almost always reach the ecstatic level. Can you please guide what to do next in meditation. I believe I should be able to move forward to a portal or a tunnel but sometimes I just feel I get bored or don't know what to do. [link] [comments]
Meditation/Relaxation using Virtual Reality Posted: 18 Feb 2021 12:37 AM PST Hi, I am currently exploring meditation and other techniques to wind down in virtual reality. What applications would you recommend to achieve this and if you have had any experience of meditation in VR how was that overall? Thanks in advance !! [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Feb 2021 02:07 AM PST So I'm currently meditating 30 minutes a night and want to progress it further, is it better to do 40 minutes a night or do 30 minutes a night and 10 in the morning? [link] [comments]
Why does meditation make me want to stop breathing? Posted: 18 Feb 2021 01:13 AM PST Like I'll be meditating and maybe 4 minutes in I realize my breathing is... distracting me? Idk but the need to breathe gets really annoying. Anyone else experience this? [link] [comments]
You can regain the benefits faster than you think Posted: 18 Feb 2021 01:12 AM PST One thing I noticed after being on and off meditation for several times is, that you don't start from scratch anytime you stop meditating for a longer period. The first few days it's rather hard for me to get into meditation again but if I stick with it I'll reach my previous level much faster in comparison. Anyone who has done strength training knows about muscle memory and I think there could be something similar going on with my meditating brain [link] [comments]
Been meditating for an hour everyday for a week and I have some questions... Posted: 17 Feb 2021 02:53 PM PST So like the title says, I've been consistent with an hour of meditation for a week now, and I feel like I'm diving into the ocean. I thought I was a calm and even dude, but man I'm discovering just how anxious and afraid I really am. My question is if I keep meditating will these feelings level out? I have meditated on and off since I was a teenager, but I've never been consistent with it. Also wondering if any of y'all have experienced something similar and how you dealt with it. Thanks [link] [comments]
What is transcendental meditation? Posted: 17 Feb 2021 03:35 PM PST Can someone give me an explanation of what transcendental meditation is to them? I want to hear from Redditors before I do any other research. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Feb 2021 01:50 AM PST Hey all, I've never experienced this before during prior water fasts so hoping maybe someone else can shed some light. Today I finished up a few days of water fasting. I broke it with a pear. I waited a while and then ate very light non processed foods the rest of the night like I typically have had success with for refeeding in the past. One thing that stood out during this water fast, I noticed I was going very "deep" during meditation, more than I have before - to the point where my perception of time was slipping. For example, in multiple cases through my sessions what felt like 5 minutes of meditation turned out to be 2 or 3 hours. This is new for me and it happened every session throughout the water fast. I'm 6 hours into refeeding now, my physical energy is back and I'm feeling great but I have this sensation in my stomach, or slightly below my stomach that all I can describe it as feeling as a light to medium hunger that is not satisfied by food. The feeling itself doesn't make me want to eat, it's not hunger pains or anything, but I have no idea what it is. I also feel compelled to restart my water fast immediately. This is not something I've experienced in the past either, I don't know if this is related? Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to address? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:27 PM PST Tonight I relaxed in with a song from a meditation playlist playing into my headphones, resting on the floor. I decided to play the same song on a loop, and when the song ended I would close the train of thought I was on. Each time I listened I thought of a different thing. For example, the second time I listened to the song I thought about how meditation brings us closer to what it's like before, and after, we die. The connectedness and energy that we feel swirl around us. The divorce you have with the woman we call "Time". The understanding that we are all one, together, all existing at the same time in a constant loop, cycle, or more elegantly picture it as a song sung using the round technique. Only there are billions of people all singing at the same time beautifully create this existence we all share. [link] [comments]
Looking for a Zoom meditation group. Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:34 PM PST Hey there, I'm sure this has been answered before, but I can't find it in the FAQ. I'm looking for a Zoom meditation group that (preferably) meets on PST. Any and all suggestions welcome :) Thanks Reddit [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Feb 2021 11:29 PM PST Why isn't there anything about davidji on Wikipedia? Why can't I find anywhere in the internet what his real name is? Only that he was born on New York in a Jewish family. How did a white dude get a "ji" at the end of his name, something that is a title of respect in India eg: babaji I know many people love him, and he has helped so many, but why does something feel off for me? I've got a pretty strong BS detector - and sometimes it's just triggered by big egos - anyone? Why does his character feel like cultural appropriation? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:14 PM PST To be inherently honest, we need to stop lying. Meditation is a great way to build that foundation. [link] [comments]
Meditating for longer (beginner advice please) Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:48 PM PST I've been meditating for a few months for about 10 minutes each morning. It has become a routine, which I'm really pleased about. How important is it to try and extend the amount of time? I'm currently pushing to about 13 minutes but get very distracted towards the end. I think it's my brain anticipating the end and wondering whether the time is nearly up. I thought it might be worth trying some extended sessions and going for like, 30 minutes or something. Does anyone have any insight into duration of meditation for the beginner? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:45 PM PST So I was doing a very simple meditation, just breath work and clearing my mind. I was very tired and about to go to bed. I was about 10 minutes in and I felt the urge to open my eyes. I stared at my white blank wall in front of me and I felt this shift in my mind and I sunk into myself and looked down and my body was so far away from me. It freaked me out so I made myself snap out of it. Is this hypnosis? Or has anyone had a similar experience ? [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:12 PM PST I was listening to Duncan Trussell's podcast earlier today and he had a fantastic little nugget that I thought was worth sharing. He paraphrased from the Baghavad Gita: 'He who is attached to the flowery words of the scriptures, is like a person who drink water from a well, when it flows everywhere.' I thought this was worth sharing because it's a great concept to use to help point out the path. I think most people that are interested in meditation understand this, and a few even realize it. However most people that meditate are following a script too. I see a lot of people get stuck in a pattern of using an app or their favorite guided meditation and it's not long before they start spinning their wheels. Guided meditation is helpful in the beginning, but eventually you have to let go of the method and just explore on your own. [link] [comments]
